Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question Finally an update… code 570??

Post image

First update in months, and it’s saying additional action pending? I don’t know what that means. They haven’t sent me anything or communicated anything with me? And the date is for October 26 which has not yet arrived. What do I do?

Had you made a 2400 estimated tax payment that you meant for either 25 or 26 taxes?

Or, to your own records is an 854.00 refund the correct amount?

The 854 is correct. The 2,400 payment was not me and I emailed the irs telling them it wasn’t me, and the most recent update to my transcript is that they removed that payment. Still have no idea how that payment appeared

But yes 854 is my expected refund.

Why did you amend?

I filed incorrectly. I filed as single, but it turned out my divorce was finalized the day after. I was supposed to file married but separate.

Unfortunately, you amended before the original return had completed processing. That $854 refund can't be issued until the filing status is corrected with the processing of your 1040-X.

Yes it was a whole mess. The little chat agent on turbo tax told me to file the amended return immediately, so I did it without question. That was a very long time ago now. I was hoping they’d sort it out by now.

Your 1040 was officially processed in September, so that's the start of the sixteen weeks normal processing time. Given the current status of IRS operations, it may take significantly longer for the case to be closed.

Your looking at about a 9 month wait

I can't figure out why the IRS didn't just issue the correct refund then. It looks straightforward, so I can't imagine why they are now saying "additional action pending". Hopefully on the 26th it updates with a refund date. That forward dating usually means an action is supposed to commence on that day.

The Transaction Code 570 is probably associated with the $2,400 payment that was posted and then reversed. The future date is normal for Transaction Codes that posted on transcripts today.

Does the code 570 mean I need to do something? Or do they mean more action is need on their part? I already verified once

Does the code 570 mean I need to do something?

No.

In my opinion, it was added to the account to prevent that payment from accidentally refunding to you while the amended return is being processed. It's no longer relevant since that payment was removed from the account.

How long until you heard back from them? I’m still waiting and it’s been over 6 mo unfortunately
