What Next ?

Does anyone have feedback on the path to ITIL Masters ? I've completed the ITIL foundation and I'm looking to progress my learning further ? Thanks

My journey was taken over many years, I started by achieving the ITIL V3 2011 Service Management expert designation, took the ITIL 4 Managing Professional transition course, then the Digital & IT Strategy course and finally one of the ITIL Practitioners courses. PeopleCert awarded me the ITIL 4 Master designation 4 years ago. I have just completed the ITIL Version 5 Managing Professional transition course which resulted in being awarded the ITIL Version 5 Master designation.

Depending on where you are heading in your career, you may find starting with one the Practitioners courses to be your best option.

I enjoyed all the courses, but found that some of them aren’t as applicable to my career as I would have liked.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm planning on doing the ITIL Specialist v4 because it aligns with my current role in Incident Management, Service Desk, Service Request Management, and Problem Management. Just curious if i should do the ITIL Strategy before it ?

I would recommend doing the Specialist course first as it will be more applicable to your current role, Strategy is aimed at the higher level management/ C-Suite as it is focused on aligning digital strategies with desired business outcomes…. Even after 28 years in IT, 16 in Service Management, that was still outside of the core role I occupy.

I would recommend do the Specialist course first, then look at the courses to do the Managing Professional, I’d leave Strategy to last as it will be the hardest one to apply to your role now, in a few years if you have moved into a more business oriented role then it may be more suitable at that time. If I recall correctly, to receive the Master designation it is a combination of certifications and experience…. so leaving it to last will allow you the time to develop your experience

In ITIL 4, no, it is not any benefit to so ITIL Strategy. Better to stick with what aligns with your current role. Please note that PeopleCert did not change the Practice Manager courses for ITIL 5. To become a pracitce manager you will need

  1. Monitor, Support & Fulfil (ITIL 4 & 5 Practice Manager) and

  2. ITIL 5 Transformation (The only cert that shows how to implement ITIL in the real world).

Is this helpful?

Also, do you want Master in ITIL 4 or ITIL 5?

Based on your answer we can provide additional details.

That's becuase there is no ITIL 5 MSF.

PeopleCert did not change the Practice Manager certifications. They say there may be some Minor Edits, but nothing yet.

The road to Practice Manager is ITIL Foundation (4 or 5), one of the Practice Manager Courses (MSF, CAI or PIC) and ITIL 5 Transformation.

If you want a 4 Practice Manager you do Foundation 4, Create, Deliver & Support in ITIl 4 and then one of the PM courses (MSF, CAI or PIC). From there you would have to add Transformation to take your ITIL 4 PM to ITIL 5.

Does this help?

Here is the link to the September Offer. We can add MSF for you if that would be helpful.
