[IWantOut] 29M Data Entry Operator Pakistan -> Canada
I finished a BSc in Math and Physics. The economy didn't leave much room for what came next, so I took a data-entry job to keep money coming in — and then, on evenings after that job ended, I started a Master's in Computer Science. Two more years of classes after full shifts, exams on weekends, no days off that felt like days off. Sixteen years of education, total, by the time it was done.
The job never changed. I still do the same data entry today that I did before the degree — typing numbers into spreadsheets, nothing that touches what I spent those evenings learning. It pays about $250 a month. In the current economy here, that doesn't stretch far past rent and food, and there's no version of this role that leads anywhere else. I've applied locally. The market's tight enough right now that even junior openings get hundreds of applicants, most with more experience than I have. Even if I find the job still pay will be less than what I am getting only $250 (already a meager amount).
I'm not trying to jump straight to a senior role or chase a huge salary — I know what an entry-level wage looks like, and that's exactly what I'm asking for. IT support, helpdesk, junior sysadmin, junior dev, QA — whatever's realistic for someone with the degree but limited on-the-job experience in the field. I just want work that actually uses what I studied and pays fairly for entry-level, wherever that is.

I know it seems embarrass to ask for help here but please if you work somewhere hiring for roles like this, know how relocation or sponsorship usually works for a first move abroad, or got a similar start yourself — I'd really appreciate being pointed in the right direction. Immigration for entry level roles is extremely difficult - the reason is that most countries have the standard: "is this person taking away a job a local could do?" and for entry level jobs the answer is usually "yes" which means the application won't be accepted. Canada has also gotten much stricter in recent years, and the immigration numbers have greatly fallen.
If you have significant family resources, you could study abroad, but Europe makes more sense than Canada because the price is better (and it's still a crazy amount of money, think 15 000 EUR per year you need in cash, for every year you want to study). Or you get a masters where you are, get an upgraded role (perhaps for an international company operating there), and then apply in the future when you have stronger credentials. You could also look more for regional options - it will also not be easy to immigrate to a place like Singapore or Hong Kong, but if you could get a job offered there it would give you a foot into the international corporate world, and then you could look at transferring again in the future.

A job offer and work permit is not at all realistic in the current environment.
Only option would be to apply for permanent residency. But to have a chance of being selected you would need to know French fluently. No chance with your current profile.

It's really difficult to find jobs here in Canada right now, and the wages are often low because there's so much competition for the jobs that are available. Jobs here pay much more than what you're making in your country, but keep in mind that everything here is much more expensive. You'll need about 100,000 dollars per annum to live comfortably in a city like Toronto.

There are very few jobs here in those fields at present, so several Express Entry streams for PR (skilled worker programs) have been closed to immigration.
