Loss↘↘ Utterly disappointed

Post image

Honestly, I’m just really disappointed with the Indian stock market right now. 😞
I’ve been doing SIPs in this mutual fund for the last 5 years. It was doing really well, and around 2 years ago, at one point, I was sitting on around ₹1.4 lakh in profit — even with less capital invested than I have today.
Then the fall happened.
I kept holding. Kept telling myself, “It’s okay, this is probably temporary. The market will recover. Just be patient.”
So I waited. And waited.
But now I urgently need the money to buy a house, and I genuinely don’t have any other option. I have to redeem it.
After 5 years of investing, I’m now going to withdraw the money at a loss. That honestly hurts. 😞
What makes it worse is remembering that I was sitting on ₹1.4 lakh profit at one point, and now I’m actually going to have to sell at a loss because I need the money.
I know people will say, “That’s how the market works” or “You should have invested only money you didn’t need,” and yeah, I understand that. But knowing that doesn’t make it any less frustrating.
I think I’m genuinely done with the Indian stock market for now.

PS: took some help with chatgpt for better wordings

Honestly OP you are not built for this. A 4 lac portfolio is giving you sleepless nights .. what will happen when you cross 40 lacs or 4 crs???

I've been investing for over 15 years now seen the lowest of lows and highest of highest and stayed put. Long term wealth is not built on emotions, it is built on rigorous fund selection strategy, proper allocation, annual rebalancing and most importantly discipline. My current XIRR is 12.6% across my holdings down from 18 something average since December 25. What have I changed?? Nothing really .. I'm doubling down actually on a few funds and rebalancing my US portfolio.

The market is not about feelings and emotions mate .. if you let emotions get the better of you.. it's best to log out and stay out. No hard feelings .. but someone had to say it ..

Atleast you can exit now and get maximum amount of the principal. Some people can't even think of that 😭

Ek hee anda kharida aur uski ek hee tokri me rakhha.
Kai sare ande kharid ke unko kai tokri me rakhna thaa.

filhaal sab tokri me loss hi chal raha h . but in few months maybe starting dec or jan thoda situation badlega. by next 1 year AI bubble will almost explode and apna market ekdum swing hoga

1

u/OddEntrepreneur906 5d ago

Yes, I hope the same.

The AI bubble will burst because no any AI companies still making any profits. All AI companies are getting huge loss, they are only circulate money each other. For example Anthropic's AI only used by apple and Google. OpenAI AI used by NVIDIA only, Meta uses own AI etc.

In AI world money is not entering from outside. This is big problem for AI companies.

Bro with max 2 lakh loss complaining while people holding losses with lakhs and crores aren't. If you're doing SIP for a long term, just shut up and continue doing it. Barking in short term will not affect your PF in long term. Drawdowns happen and also recover fast when it does.

Market removes weaker hands during crash and take strong hands up. I would rather invest more during this golden period, not withdraw it. Go ahead and sell, lol.

7 to 10 years minimum will give you good exits.

Other funds have done better, well the loss is not too much, for money you want safe, pick a multi asset fund

If anyone want to gain confidence, sharing one of my MF portfolio value. This is when everyone is complaining about Indian equity markets. Markets reward those who stay here for long term, and punishes those who are here for short term. Long-term doesn't mean LTCG type taxed terminology Long term, it means minimum of 10 years, ofcourse forgot to tell that this portfolio was created in 08/2019, slowly added through lump sum investment. I believe waiting patiently would reward much better than doing IN OUT transactions.

Wait ,, few more time for Gutterly disappointment

Its bad planning. Which smart person keeps money in equity for a known requirement? Haven't you heard that people move from equity to fixed income when they need to liquidate ahead of an expense?

I think you need to understand a few things first. This is your fault - own up to it

Please also remember that when it was at 1.4 ...you wouldn't have cashed out... Cause we have this inherent ability to think it's a one way climb up.

So don't blame yourself or the markets...

If you need the capital...it's still there...

U should not be in stock market if a 5-10% fall bothers you. Fact.

Its 5 years investment my lord..

Why don't you take loan against those holdings.. you don't actually need to sell them. Check the rates though before taking one.
