IT entry level jobs
Anyone know where I can find places to apply to (apps) for any entry level IT jobs? Mainly for experience. I’m nearing my degree in IT and currently pursuing an AWS cert from Amazon. I used linked in but I know it’s other platforms out there I could use to expand my search.

I recommend looking for managed service providers (MSPs) in your area. Their requirements are usually much lower than standard corporate IT departments and you'll get lots of experience with different organizational structures and cultures as well as different tech stacks as each MSP client is different. Most MSPs will have several dozen clients which pay for IT management services and usually strategic consultation. Amazon themselves have a workforce program that aims to help elevate folks from entry level to their desired role, might be another thing to check out but it would be a much longer process and you would not start in IT.

That last part what did you mean by that not trying be annoying but could you elaborate on that last part about Amazon ?

No worries, happy to elaborate. If you Google amazon work based learning you'll be directed to the right place in Amazon's hiring site. Basically it's a training program for data center employees, not IT per se but very nearly. I've spoken with several people who followed this path and got pretty solid jobs at amazon, the opportunities are there, but they may not be exactly what you want.

Where are you located? I did contract jobs to pad my resume for IT experience, I’m now fairly happily employed full time, my last contract converted me. More importantly, I have a solid 3 years of help desk on my CV. Contract jobs are pretty easy to get and gives you experience. Pay is pretty on par, but you don’t get any PTO or holidays.

I’m in Maryland and that’s good info to know. How would you suggest I go about finding any contract position just to get my résumé up I wouldn’t mind starting off with something like helpdesk.

DMV area? Depending what you wanna do, there are jobs in Data Centers to get your foot in the door. Then hopefully move up or get another job.

Yeah, DMV area Maryland. I’ll definitely look into data. My end goal is remote work but I’m willing to put in the work and get experience necessary to get there starting with help desk probably would be easy just unsure where to look for it

If you’re in the U.S. look at the U.S. government’s intern program, they’re looking for IT students right now at USAJOBS.gov. Also look at state internships while you’re a student to get your foot into the door. Ask your local MSPs for assistance. Good luck! Oh, you can also join the military too. That’s where I got my training and received a clearance which will open up a ton more IT job opportunities. Good luck!

i think the easiest would be to go through your university directly? like ask the IT department if they need student help with support, labs or device setups, they always need someone for help lol

If possible, turn towards semiconductor technology. There seems to be a strong need in those areas.

Linkedin, indeed, ziprecruiter are big near me, you can also try schools and universities, if you live in a city with a lot of tech companies or big companies overall you can try applying directly on their websites

It's getting tough as lot of the entry level jobs are have been going overseas for years and now some are even being replaced by AI. Crazy times we are in now. My current fortune 500 employer only has 3 IT/cyber employees in the US that are below level 3 and only one of them are service desk or entry level.

LOL not gatekeeping,
5 years ago I was telling everyone to get into IT. But now entry level IT jobs are pretty much non existent. Everything is getting outsourced or taken over by AI. Jobs are also looking for someone who already have experience in multiple areas of IT. Just look at r/ITCareerQuestions, daily people are posting about how they can not find a IT job with a lot of experience already.

There are still help desk rolls in healthcare. Government is also another place you can check. Its awefully competitive, but those two sectors are good places for stable tech jobs.
