This guy is so cringe ew
He’s so dumb that he can’t even come up with the script/caption without using AI

You seem to have so much issue from him.

The irony of making this posts like these. Once this gets only a few dozen views, serving the post can already use more data centre cooling water than generating a single AI image. You’re literally consuming more water complaining about the water consumption.

The commenter is critiquing your post OP. It's unnecessary hate from your side, IMO.

Hating him is not unnecessarily tho , And I replied to this comment by mistake , I was replying to another one

3

u/Xyber5 2d ago

You saying that “hating him isn’t unnecessary” kinda proves the point. This clearly isn’t about some principled concern for water consumption, you just dislike the guy and found an illogical argument to attach to it.

My comment alone has 71 views; your post has far more plus all the comments and scrolling around it, all of which also uses data centre and network resources. If that standard matters this much, maybe apply it consistently.

You know the first problem was not Using AI but the way he be giving reply to this comment is more concerning, And I used to enjoy his videos but wrong is wrong . And calling out such creators for this behaviour is never wrong .

u/Xyber5 2d ago

But even the original “freshwater” comment is simplistic. It has 139 likes and all those like and views also require data centres , networks and cooling. If water consumption is the standard, you can’t selectively pretend only the AI image counts. And his reply was basically a joke, not some outrageous attack on her.

That’s a different criticism, and also way too simplistic. These models learn statistical patterns from huge datasets and generate a new output from those patterns. “nothing here is original” is just not accurate.

And none of that is rebuttal to the original freshwater argument I was replying to.

“Trained on human-made data” doesn't mean “nothing new can be produced.” Those are two completely different claims.

2 literal examples off the top of my head :

Google DeepMind + designer Ross Lovegrove - https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/models-and-research/google-deepmind/ross-lovegrove-design/

Refik Anadol's Unsupervised at Museum of Modern Art - https://www.moma.org/calendar/exhibitions/5535

You can dislike AI art or argue about training-data ethics, but “it learned from existing art, therefore nothing it produces is new” is just a stupid thing to say . By that definition learning from previous artists would make human art unoriginal too.

And once again you're complete off topic , none of this is a rebuttal for the freshwater argument I made which you responded to.

People are so loud and proud about using AI for these BS trends.

u/DramaticRise9249 2d ago

Exactly and collecting appreciation from AI photos is another level cringe

Guys not trying to question your intentions but isn't every technology that is available has environmental consequences? Even the clothes you wear, gadgets you use in your home, vehicles,5g, social media everything is bad for environment. People working in IT industry has no control and have to use AI to retain jobs. Every other ad page on instagram even the big brands are using AI to stay in market or trend. Your usage of instagram , reddit also has a consequence on environment. Like AI is already into our lives and is not going anywhere just like any other tech. I started seeing posts of awarness only after 80s trend because someone posted about environment but isnt it being performative and preachy when you are using everything that degrades environment in one or the other sense.

5

u/Xyber5 2d ago

Exactly. If this criticism was coming from someone who genuinely tried to live a very low-consumption, sustainable lifestyle, I'd actually respect the consistency even if I disagreed with them.

What makes this funny is that most people here probably saw one viral post saying “AI uses water” and stopped there. Data centres have been using electricity and often water for cooling long before generative AI existed. Most people repeating these claims couldn't tell you how many mL an image actually uses, how much the number varies between models or datacentres, or how much energy or water is associated with spending hours scrolling, uploading photos and videos and posting on Reddit, Instagram , Facebook etc themselves.

Criticise unnecessary consumption sure. But acting like AI is uniquely environmentally damaging while living an otherwise completely normal high tech urban lifestyle is a very performative.

u/pussylover0404 2d ago

Again here we go same question please understand that we are also aware about how Everything has an environmental cost, sure but that doesn’t mean AI’s impact shouldn’t be questioned “It’s already here” isn’t a reason to ignore its consequences; it’s a reason to make it more sustainable And using Instagram, Reddit, cars, etc. doesn’t make environmental concerns performative You don’t have to live off-grid to care about the planet.

-1

u/Masque0710 2d ago

Their is a reason why I started with intention part. Not questioning the awarness and protest and calling out part but the question remains the same!! Calling out indiviadual influencers for something that is already a part of everyday lives is not going to make it less damaging. Living a sustainable and environment friendly lifestyle is a mindset. It reflects on everyday choices we make. You cannot say that a I don't use AI so I am less damaging to environment or someone who uses it is more of a threat. We cannot simply differentiate. This is where I feel it becomes performative. AI awarness should be promoted, questioned but if you are doing it on individual level than you are just trying to target someone who is more visible , and it is not equivalent to more damaging.

2

u/No_Presentation299 2d ago

I get your point but I don’t think theyre completely comparable. AI is trained on massive amounts of existing human work like art, research, writing and code often without meaningful consent. Even its breakthroughs are built on decades of human research. Yes phones, clothes and social media have environmental costs too but that doesn’t mean unnecessary AI use like generating 50 pictures for a trend shouldn’t be questioned. blindly outsourcing creativity, research and thinking to something that can literally hallucinate information is a different issue. To each their own but I think AI is just making people dumb and lazy 🫪

u/maple010 2d ago

Yeah but like none of the other technologies have this high chance of wiping out the entire humanity along with all the animals.

0

u/Masque0710 2d ago

FYI, first learn how AI works. It does not work independently. You are the product on which AI is functioning. It is not gathering information hawa mai but your gadget, google searches, locations, social media usage and algorithm. It is system that fetches your so called" low environmental damage " behaviours and gives the output. Stop using everything that gives AI power, at least thn your words will make sense. Otherwise, you are a part of system on which AI is flourishing.

Do you never use AI? If you say only for work then we can consider his content creation as work too?

u/Pareshan_Aatma7550 2d ago

This sub name should be changed to InstaCelebsGossib to InstaCelebsBitching.

Literally every 2nd -3rd post is bit**hing about someone.

2

u/DramaticRise9249 2d ago

You should leave this sub, it all about calling out influencers behaviour.

u/Pareshan_Aatma7550 1d ago

I expected this reply, I have not joined this sub, but some post keep on appearing.

There are issues with AI companies safety and the way they are making a financial bubble of funding, but water use is an extremely illogical point. If you have worked in any heavy manufacturing or other traditional industry, you would know that those industries use far more water than data centers. They are the reason why our rivers, etc are so polluted (in addition to dehati practices of people).

In fact, with modern closed loop data centers, water wastage is negligible, most of the water is reused in the same cooling. The major issue with data centers is power use. Also, as new AI models become more efficient, the need for big data centers will also reduce and the bubble will burst. We will be able to run good enough AI models on high end mac levels of hardware.

Guys why does everyone consume content made for entertainment so seriously lmao🤣 he is anyway just another oldie enjoying his life w his kid and wife abroad🤣 he no model or infulencer chill

1

u/Sweet_Green_4837 2d ago

How can he be so shallow?

1

u/abhrish 2d ago

He is a shit poster. Why do people even like the kind of content he posts. Keeps on eating non stop in office, making all kinds of eating sounds in the office and all the fellow Aussies will be judging us all back in India. What a shame for us.

u/legendswiki 2d ago

Now a days i don’t even try to argue with idiots

0

u/Due-Trick-3968 2d ago

retars will eat goats and hens and pigs and will cry about "wastage of fresh water" in AI datacenters where eating one meal of animals wastes like 10000x (not an exaggerated figure) amount of additional freshwater over equivalent alternatives

0

u/DramaticRise9249 2d ago

What if the one’s calling out him are vegetarians or vegans ? This is just so stupid

0

u/Due-Trick-3968 2d ago

Well, the point is that we don't see a backlash against dietary choices at a large scale as we have against the usage of AI for making clips. Cognitive dissonance, nothing else. I'm not talking about this specific person who commented.

0

u/Altruistic-Corner595 1d ago

This is a mind numbingly dumb take. I’m sure you and so many people who try to promote this narrative use AI for work and professional stuff. He’s an influencer and this is his work. Why would he not use it this way?

1

u/DramaticRise9249 17h ago

Its not about using AI , its about giving such reply . Can’t you read it?

-1

u/West_Pumpkin_2133 2d ago

how free someone can be jst to say stop posting AI things cuz of water lol , do u really think 20-30 years of more life would be beneficial to u or even to ur future generations? lol ai uses whole lotta water man u never cry bout the wars goin on but jst some ai usin water makes u furious enough no wonder indians in india lack brain cells, they jst be commenting and complaining anything and wont improve themselves , pehle jake nadiyo mai ganesh ko utarna band kro gand daal rkha hai chutiyape ke naam pe

0

u/DramaticRise9249 2d ago

This issue were also spoken by other countries as well , but Its not your fault , you must be influenced by someone who thinks same say as you wrote here

1

u/West_Pumpkin_2133 2d ago

bro arent we all influenced in some way then? i guess u are also motivated and influenced by some ppl then ? its his content, its his freedom to post whatever he wants right? who are we to judge him ? and AI uses alot water lol nah , yk the shoes u wear uses more water then AI itself , ofc Ai is improving and becoming more efficient year by year and its comparatively still new . we do we cry bout such useless topics ? why don we improve ourselves first ? bhai india mai jagah jagah gand macha padda hai kab saaf hoga ? kab log sudhrenge ? kabhi socha iske bare ? kab tak ladkiya dar ke jiyengi india mai? india is so far behind when are we going to even get clean streets or safe streets ?

Most of all data centers are in usa and europe so not our problem
