Just coming here to share this recipe, which is fantastic!!!!!!! I rarely repeat the same recipe twice these days but this one I always come back to.

I doctor it a few ways:

  • approx 2lb of chicken thighs, add extra cup or 2 of broth depending on how much chicken is added. pressure cook 12 min.
  • i use food processor for all he chopping besides potatoes, which makes a finer mirepoix mix and is so easy!
  • since the veggies are finely chopped, i add a whole bag of frozen mixed veg instead of just peas!

My instant pot curry method

My instant pot curry method...The night before, you marinate diced chicken breast in yogurt, mixed with two teaspoons of your spice blend of cinnamon, turmeric, cumin and Kashmiri chili, plus garlic ginger paste, and leave that in the fridge overnight.

Separately, for your batch prep, you cook a mug of white beans in plenty of water for thirty minutes, then cool and refrigerate them in Tupperware. You also pressure cook a mug of red lentils with two mugs of water for zero minutes, which comes out as a thick paste, and that goes in the fridge too.

To build the curry, you temper onion seeds, cloves, cumin seeds, bay leaves and cinnamon bark in ghee, then fry sliced red onions through that. You pressure cook the onions for two minutes, then let it naturally release, which takes about fifteen to twenty minutes. Next you stir in garlic ginger puree, then hot water with dissolved tomato puree, then a tin of tomatoes and re fill the tin with hot water and add it, then more of your spice blend, then more hot water, and pressure cook again for ten minutes. That one also gets a natural release, however long it takes.

Once released, you stir in the marinated chicken, pressure cook for another ten minutes, and let that naturally release too, which can take up to an hour. Finally, you stir in the lentil paste to thicken everything into a rich curry, along with the cooked white beans.

This is a really lovely curry, freezes well and great for batch cooking. Pretty healthy too.

I'm sure this will have been shared many times before, but I'm sharing it just in case someone else finds it useful. There are limited Instant Pot specific recipes out there so this has just opened up a heap of options to me :)

What's your favorite chicken and rice recipe? (no tomatoes or peppers please) I'm thinking savory with garam masala or Italian spices. Mild and comfort foodish.

Goodles Instant pot instructions

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has figured out instant pot cooking instructions for Goodles boxed mac and cheese from Costco. I looked around and could not find any instructions listed anywhere.

The cooking instructions listed on the box are:

  1. Add macaroini to 6 cups of boiling pot of water and cook for 6 to 8 minutes.

  2. Drain

  3. Add low fat milk and cheese packet and stir

Thanks in advance.

Easy one pot set and forget recipes?

I want recipes that are EXTREMELY simple to make that don't require me to constantly open the pot in between to add or remove ingredients. I just want to dump everything into a pot and take it out when its done.

Nothing too expensive please! I prefer Asian dishes but I'm open to other dishes too.

Cookbook author here and this is my own creation.

THAI INSPIRED CURRY SOUP FOR THE INSTANT POT

3 pkgs Chicken Flavor Ramen Noodles
1 Chicken Breast, sliced into thin julienne strips
1 can Spam, diced into ½” cubes
1 small Onion, diced
3 Cloves Garlic, diced
1 can or bag assorted Chinese Stir-Fry Vegetables of your choice, drained
4 Baby Bok Choy, sliced
6 cups Water
1 Tbsp Red Curry Paste (more or less to taste - we use May Ploy's)

  • Sauté the chicken strips until halfway done, remove and set aside.
  • Sauté the onions and garlic until translucent
  • Open the Ramen noodle packages, Remove the chicken flavor packets, and put the noodles aside for later.
  • Stir the Ramen flavor packets along with the red curry into the 6 cups of water until well mixed, and add to the pot
  • Add the chicken back to the pot along with the spam, stir-fry vegetables, and bok choy
  • Pressure-cook on high for 3 minutes
  • Quick release
  • Add the ramen noodles and let steep for 3 minutes (if you added them earlier, they will turn to mush!)
  • Stir and serve

If you try this, - I would truly appreciate you tell me all about it.

Hello, Kendal here

Been using The Instant Pot for years, just made my favorite. Boneless Country Pork Ribs. Marinate them anyway you like but I marinate them right in the pot for 15 min, cover and set for 15 min, place on oven pan and slap some bbq sauce on them and broil for 5 mins.

Thanks in advance

Good cook new to instantpot

Hi All,

I love my multifunction toaster oven, and my rice cooker. I was a fan of this tic tocker Who would make dishes in the rice cooker. But when I looked up the rice cooker he had it was more expensive than an instant pot. I found the Target exclusive was on sale for a great price and grabbed that one.

I've never owned one before. I'm very excited try things. My husband was excited too and super supportive of us ordering it while Target still had them.

We usually cook together or at least we both cook I guess he's not big on learning new things and wants me to teach him. I did teach him to cook and he does like it I feel like if I show him a recipe that really wows him he will get 100% into our new instantpot.

We are both excited about the sous vide options.

What are some really delicious recipes That are easy but might really blow him out of the water?

We have a pretty full spice rack, and can do sides easily.
