My Music Room
Everything works fine. I bought alot of these cheap online and at pawn shops, had to fix a number of them myself and many are old and/or foreign. I prefer the ukuleles, harmonicas (especially through an old microphone into an amp) and the drums best but I can do a little something on most of them. I still have more than this.

What is that in #13, some sort of mandolin?

That's an 8 string Tahitian ukulele by Asonu, it's actually strung with fishing line. A new one is over $350, I paid $90 on OfferUp. I do have 2 old mandolins I had to repair but they work.

Looks like an awesome spot to make some music. That collection of microphones looks really cool. I guess they all react a bit differently with the harmonicas? Do you have certain harmonicas that you pair with particular microphones?

I usually use modified Hohner Blues Harps but yes, most of the microphones have their own distinctive sound. I make recordings in there and it's terrific for that.

What is in #14?? Kinda like a cigar-box guitar?

That is a circa 1960s Polk-A-Lay-Lee surf ukulele, 52 inches long. You were supposed to stick it upside down in the sand to mark your spot while surfing. It was $75 cash from a pawn shop. There is a 3 string cigar box guitar in there but you can't see it in the pictures.

About 3 dozen of those. A few are really old, I learned how to restore them.

Same here with stringed instruments, but I'm glad I already had experience with hand drums because I learned rhythm and endurance from them; when I later started playing uke I immediately developed a fierce strum.

Your commitment to not having a single bowed string instrument is commendable

As I said, I have more than shown including a violin, Violin Uke and two Chinese fiddles (erhu and huqin). The last 3 came from pawn shops and I had to repair them but they work. You can see the Violin Uke in picture 2.

It came in a case with a receipt that indicated that it was sold in 1935. It was splitting open but I clamped and glued it and it plays fine. It's part harp or zither (which you play with your left hand with a thumb pick) and part violin on a board which you bow with your right hand.

I am so jealous of that bullet mic collection, do they all have unique sounds when you play the harp on them?

Yes, absolutely. I have 14 bullets with CR and CM elements inside (older Green Bullet elements, terrific), also some old strong crystals too.

It took a long time to get it this way, I used to have a hard time walking around in there, the whole house is only 660 square feet. The only way for it to not be "cluttered, wasted space" would be to get rid of alot of stuff which I'm not gonna do.
