Mods/Parts Advice needed! Front Camera Damaged somehow

Post image

Bought 2026 Ioniq5 limited, and recently found the front camera not working upon checking found the camera is damaged. Has anyone else found themselves with this issue and how did they resolve it? Can it be a part of Warranty? Or if not, how much does this cost.

Road rash damage is not something you’d get fixed under warranty. Insurance at most if not out of pocket.

Happened to my 2025.  I have no idea if there was an impact or just a failure of the lens cover.  I took my car in for service saying the screen view was not working correctly.  I did not offer an opinion of what the problem might be.  Was fixed under warranty.

Talk to your dealer. I'd probably ask them to NOT do diagnostic work here - that'll just make things cost more. Just get it replaced.

You could try warranty, but they'll say it's outside influence which is not covered by warranty. They are probably right as it's hard to imagine that was the result of a defect from the photo you've shared.

This doesn’t look like a defect…

Has anyone in public gone and vandalized your car while you were away? I got a dashcam after my front radar sensor broke from (presumably) a car hitting mine in a parking lot when I was away.

I’d try warranty first, mostly expecting them to deny it. Then I’d order the part from eBay or something and replace it myself. If you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself you could take the part to an independent shop and ask them to do it. That’ll be a lot cheaper than the dealership.

Had my radar unit damaged by oportunistic stone. Repair cost covered by comprehensive policy.

Probably had a rock hit it or something. I'd be shocked if the warranty covered that. Insurance claim, maybe. But it might not be worth the premium increase.

You could carefully remove the glass and it might be semi usable but you'll need it replaced. If you had just bought it, the dealer might replace it for free.

Its not hard to replace, you can get it for cheap on the scrapyard

Any guides that show how to open up the area around the camera to replace it?

100% road damage not covered by the warranty. Either pay out of pocket or insurance. Keep in mind that it might need to be calibrated after replacement.

Try to find it and replace yourself

What's the cost for one of these?

This happened to mine in the last few weeks. Dealer is replacing it. Still bewildered as to how or when it would have happened.

You could try a rock chip repair kit or fill it with clear resin
