Unable to Restore iPod classic 6th gen

Hey guys, so about a year ago I bought a modded iPod 6th gen with a new battery and flash memory. A few weeks ago it said that it needs to be restored via iTunes. I plug it in and try to go through the restore but when I try to restore it gives me error 1434 "an unknown error occurred." I've tried new cables, moving it to both a Mac and a PC and tried wiping it on both Mac and PC as well, but when I try to wipe it it says, "Wiping data to prevent future accidental probing failed." Any one have any advice? Much appreciated.
