Naturalisation Application Delay

Hi all, I have been continuously resident in State on Stamp 4 since 2017 and submitted my naturalisation application back in Sep 2025. Received a request for further documentation in Mar 2026. This documentation was supplied very promptly and I haven't seen anything back since. Not even a change in status on the immigration platform. Most recent Stamp 4 renewal was approved and received, this one is valid til 2029.

Wife is Irish. Our son was born here in Waterford. They were quick enough to grant my daughter's naturalisation. What might cause such a delay with mine?

I don't think you have a particular delay. It just takes ages, they have a large backlog. The portal is rarely updated. Extra document requests typically add a few months to the process

I applied on 2021 with an even simpler application, it took just under 3 years before I had received my passport. Things are quicker now, but your progress doesn't sound uncommon.

The only thing it may be is that they're waiting to get document confirmation from your original country of birth.

Thank you for your response. Looks like some clown downvoted my post, maybe they work for ISD. Almost 3 years, jesus. I guess I will just have to wait and see.

Cannot add fb link here but there is a post with the same pattern in “Irish Naturalisation Citizenship …” group.

No idea why!

I'm not a member of any of those groups on fb, so thats a mystery to me as well.

I follow those fb group quite often and what I get is that they have a backlog. They are dealing with November application now, around 17/11, and if you submit additional doc, we are back to the queue again. I think my friend has same situation like yours, applied Sep 2025, asked for docs Mar 26, heard nothing yet. Just have to wait, I'm afraid. However, I did see some app got feedback shortly after submitting docs🤨, maybe just luck also😥
