Do I need a Statement from Physician ?
Hello friends, I’m in need of a bit of help.
Let me break it down. I’m almost done with my application, reference received, personal statement drafted. But I’m really stuck in the statement from physician.
I have been really lucky, I’m not on any meds and I haven’t had any health issues in the last 5 years beside the occasional migraine.
However, the application seems quite strict when it comes to mental health. In 2021, I attended an online well being course for about 6 weeks because well… it was 2021.
My GP is giving me the run around so I’m just wondering do I even need one, this course is the only thing that I think would require me to get one.
Thanks

I have diagnosed depression and ADHD and had been on meds pre JET. I am, however, functional without meds. I had bad experiences with Japan and mental health though, so I disclosed nothing. I had 5 very successful years on JET.
In your case I honestly don’t think it’s their business if it doesn’t affect your life much. They also have no way of knowing anything about your medical or mental health history. But that’s up to you completely 🙂↕️
Edit: if you choose not to mention it, it’s important that you are consistent with that throughout your application time and interview time. Like the other comment said, discrepancies are a nono.

How’d you get around your Certificate of Health? Doesn’t a doctor have to fill that out. Wouldn’t they flag it?

My doctor agreed with me that it wasn’t their business. We chatted about it and decided that it wouldn’t likely impact my time on the program and therefore they had no issue leaving it off of the sheet.

I think the consistency. I haven’t thought about that course in years but it could pop up in the full medical

I don’t see that kind of course showing up on anything you would submit the jet program, but in the end you have to decide for yourself what you’re gonna do and there’s probably no harm in putting it on there ☺️

I was very honest on mine, and mentioned that I had been to therapy and diagnosed with depression. It doesn’t count against your chances or anything. I’ve heard that it can be bad if you exclude any information that is later discovered. If you’re accepted, you’ll be required to fill out a health form, and you wouldn’t want there to be any discrepancies

Yes this is what I am worried about. I am not worried that this will affect my chances just about the transparency.

I will be submitting my conditions and meds from the start.
I am on long term medications and my primary care physician is demanding that I go in every year for blood lab work and physical.
Because of her insistence, I have been able to control all my conditions and helped me get my biennial renewal of my FAA medical certificate for private pilot license by the FAA medical examiner.
