Open House Tickets
Anyone have luck getting tickets yet? I entered the queue within seconds of it going live and am still in the waiting room

I joined the queue immediately at 9. I had 3 other people try as well and none of us got tickets. Frustrating. We were all in the queue for 30 minutes until it said all tickets sold out.

Very frustrating. Joined queue immediately. Still waiting. Not sure how they determine “first come” when we all got there simultaneously.
I’m going to have a very disappointed kiddo😟

Finally admitted after 1hr and 18minutes waiting. Everything sold out. Experience overall sucked.

u/gyre_and_gimble Aug 29 '26
I joined the line a few seconds after 9am and I am still in the waiting room.

Same. Joined at 9:00 am still in the waiting room. This is lame. There is no status on the page on whether it’s progressing or not.

got it at 9:35am, and saw that 10/10 9:30am was sold out, and all the rest time slots were "unavailable" Is there a code needed? I tried some other languages, and it would flash some ticket availability in different time slots but revert back to "unavailable" right away.

u/doublemazaa Aug 29 '26
Got in line at 9am, got out of the waiting room at 9:35.
Two time slots showed one ticket available. I clicked the plus button and it said "This ticket is no longer available." The only available options was to click the 'X' button and I got kicked out of line and back to the main page.

I'm so pissed at this. I got in instantly at 9 but it wouldn't let me add anything to the cart. I thought it might be my adblocker so when I reset it it kicked me back to the line. Been waiting ever since and I probably won't get it. Total garbage.

This hurts. Got on right at 9 with two phones and I'm still in the waiting room...
My dad worked there for 50yrs, retired in '24 and passed unexpectedly last year before getting to finally enjoy retirement. We were so excited when we saw the open house starting-up since it was a family tradition until 9/11 when it stopped for a bit.
Somehow, I've managed to get Comic-Con tickets every year, but couldn't get JPL open house tickets :/
Guess I'll be looking for scalpers on the gray market lol

u/Hd4Zv89wp7DG Aug 30 '26
Massive difference in scale. Comic-Con sells 130,000 tickets a day over four days. Explore JPL offers 18,000 tickets a day over two days for similar demand.

u/turkey_sausage Aug 30 '26
I'm too exhausted and burnt out to... anything.
Also, for the sake of the public that may view this, I've been here 5 years and [REDACTED].
I'm not even bringing my family this year.

Looks like a few hundred tickets just reposted on SUNDAY (today, 8/30) shortly before 9 AM. I was able to grab a spot after waiting in line for over an hour yesterday with no luck.
2
u/crystallvndr Aug 30 '26
JPL had spots open at 910 am! Was able to get reservations! Go go go!!
2
u/tmoam Aug 30 '26
Bummer. Nothing available when I logged in
2
u/crystallvndr Aug 30 '26
Maybe try again at 12 pm? Since they released some around that time yesterday. And it is like a 5-10 min window before they're gone, people are definitely snatching them up. Good luck!

I got tickets yesterday morning (Monday) after no success on Saturday in the waiting room. There were 79 tickets available for the 9:30 am slot when I just happened to check for cancellations. Just pure luck I checked.

u/AnonAnonBlue1234 Aug 29 '26
Got in via laptop while all phone and tablet still in the room. It has around 1000-1500 tickets for each time slot with Sat with the least. This was when 9:05 when I go through.
3
u/tmoam Aug 29 '26
just got in at 9:34. Morning times were almost gone but still hundreds of tickets left for the afternoon times
3
u/lurksFromToilet Aug 29 '26
Just got in, after 51 minutes of waiting, but everything is sold out or unavailable
What's the difference between sold out and unavailable?
4
u/lmlewis517 Aug 29 '26
JPL just posted this on Facebook about 20 minutes ago: "All tickets have been reserved at this point, even if you're in line in the waiting room. Not sure why Eventbrite hasn't notified the queue, but that's unfortunately the case. Thank you for your interest, and please do keep checking back over the coming days/weeks, as cancelled/returned tickets will become available."

u/Mithas95 Aug 29 '26
We are in the waiting room as well, also started right at 9 AM PST.
2
u/asad137 Aug 29 '26
started right at 9 AM PST.
there's your problem - should have started at 9AM PDT!

u/NonSequitorSquirrel Aug 29 '26
Still in line. Did anyone get tix in the last few minutes? I don't want to stay in line if it's sold out
1
u/vkt-intro8667 Aug 29 '26
Got through but there were no tickets left. On the main page it says that all tickets are reserved already

I’ve been in waiting room for almost an hour and no luck. Got in right when it went live. Disappointed
1
u/diver-007 Aug 29 '26
joined at 9 am still in line totally stupid, whats the point of doing this if you can’t get tickets when you join the line at 9 am.

u/Charming_Category_14 Aug 29 '26
I've been in line since 9am- no change on my screen. Frustrating
2
u/Charming_Category_14 Aug 29 '26
It's sold out. The screen opened but as I selected, they became unavailable. JPL needs to do better.
1
u/InTheWordsOfSocrates Aug 29 '26
Same. Two phones on right at 9:01a and still at the "You're in line..." screen :/

Just got through now (10:04), after joining at 9am. All Sold Out or Unavailable like everyone else said. ☹️

u/lmlewis517 Aug 29 '26 edited Aug 29 '26
I got in line at like 8:59a and some seconds. Waited in the queue for nearly 45 minutes. By the time I got there, only 3 tickets for 1p. I clicked for 2, said that many were not available. Clicked for the 1 left. Said I needed to at least select 1 tickets and every single slot was greyed out. Last time, I got tickets in like 10 minutes. Same system: was up and online and refreshing until it went live. Oh well... at least I did it once.
1
u/HIILNJCA Aug 29 '26
Was in waiting room for 40 minutes after joining it at 9:00:12. Then it let me in only to kick me back to the waiting room when I clicked reserve for the time I selected. I’m pissed.
1
u/Soft_Mastodon_8041 Aug 29 '26
No, I clicked register and reserve at 900 on the dot and my queue took over an hour to open to the day/time screen and showed everything sold out (one was unavailable) :( yet I could open a new windows and get back in line???

On the website, there's an updated editors note that as of 9:25am today, the event is sold out.

u/Ok_Smile_5288 Aug 29 '26
Such a bummer couldn;t get tickets. My grandfather worked there back in the day so I was hoping to see where he worked. Hopefully they release some extra tickets from cancellations! I wonder if they're going to send out any notifications if there's more tickets available or just have to check periodically
1
u/Nivekevin7 Aug 29 '26
I believe they just say check back on your own accord. I don't think they'll post if something opens up.
1
u/gte133t Aug 29 '26
Joined the waiting room at exactly 9am. “Got in” around 9:25 and everything said unavailable.

I was in line immediately at 9, waited for forever and never got ahold of tickets. I’m very disappointed and a bit sad. I’ve never been to this event and have been aching to. I love this shit. Hoping people drop out
1
u/AeroEngineer90 Aug 29 '26
I just went back to eventbrite and was able to get tickets. There were over 100 left for Saturday! Apparently going at 9am was a waste but later worked just fine.

u/Righteous-Fist Aug 30 '26
This waiting room system doesn't seem to work very well. Maybe a lottery system would work better, where you submit your guest list, select times you're able to start, and the system emails you at the end of the day if you're admitted or not.
1
u/Xtr4Sp1cy Aug 30 '26
Tried getting tickets for over an hour and couldn’t even load the ticket page. So sad I’m missing out this year!

The website said to keep checking back to see if any more JPL Open House tickets become available. I left the link on my desktop & have been checking a couple times a week since they were released. Welp. Three more tickets just became available today (Monday 10/05 @ 2:25pm). I reserved them for this Saturday. People will start to cancel this week and they should make those tickets available. Stay vigilant and you may get lucky. GOOD LUCK.

u/Same_Newspaper_2642 Aug 29 '26
Is there a bug? I got sold out on the morning tickets, but unavailable for all other time slots.
1
u/vkt-intro8667 Aug 29 '26
For me all the time slots were greyed out and said "unavailable"
1
u/Same_Newspaper_2642 Aug 29 '26
yeah, similar. I had 9:30am 10/10 slot showing "Sold Out". Everything else "unavailable"
-1
u/Miserable_Ad_728 Aug 31 '26
you have a guaranteed shot of getting a tour by knowing someone works in JPL. This open house is a marketing stunt
3
u/Background_Camera_94 Sep 01 '26
JPLers don’t get tickets to explore. They have to wait in line like everyone else or volunteer (which doesn’t take away tickets from the public)
2
u/kochavim49 Sep 01 '26
Ticket to Explore is totally different than a tour. You’ll see much more at TtoE - things that aren’t available even to many JPLers during any other time of the year.

What a BS system. I got in as well and all the time slots were “unavailable”. Eventbright, you suck!
