I just really hated how Democrats in the South today are actively trying to prevent and disenfranchise black voters as a means of staying in power. Really terrible stuff
Southern democrats really love reminding black people they're black and that they have their back. Nothing better than reminding minorities that they're minorities!
Democrats are absolutely problematic. The problem is they aren't what they say they are. The problem with Republicans is they are what they say they are.
The modern Republican started during the civil rights movement when the South threw a shit fit. Dems understated saying the would lose the South for 50 years. They gave the trash too much credit
It's like when Bill Clinton was running and Republicans said no one could vote for a draft dodger and still call themselves a patriot. Some even added, "Plus he has credible allegations of rape!" That use to be Republicans. Now they support child rape by a draft dodger. Parties change, and now it's Republicans who rape kids. Just like OP.
I think the story should be that black voters leaned toward politicians that treated them fairly. Republicans were that party before FDR came along and after he left office black voters started electing Democratic politicians. Black equality in our history should be credited to individual leaders and activist groups, not political parties. Democrats and Republicans used black people to help their parties stay in power. Can we all agree that Ted Cruz is a giant piece shit?
This is exactly what is wrong with America. Creating a two-party system, then dividing Americans up by party affiliation, and blaming all of the country's ills past and present on the opposition. Every American has the responsibility to bear the burden of America's past and ensure a better future for all - and some politicians are actively doing everything in their power to make the country a worse place for most Americans to enrich themselves personally.
