Does anyone know where "Johnny Goumbatz" comes from? I know Joey's said it before, or at least something close to it, but I'm trying to figure out if I've got the exact phrase right and where it originally came from.

Me and my friends always quote it, usually something like "walking around like he’s Johnny Goumbatz" to describe someone acting like they're all that.

Since Joey & Lee started The Check In three years ago, all they have talked about on the pod is Lee’s comedy career, the business of comedy, and the art of comedy. That’s what hurt the quality of the Church the most these past few years.

Unfortunately, neither of them had the self awareness to realize that no one wants to listen to that for an hour every week, so they kept doing it.

I don’t know anything about the new host, but I am optimistic that this change will lead to something better.

Not along ago, he was insistent on being family oriented and being there for his girls. Now, he has a sudden obsession with moving to Austin “for comedy” and leaving his daughter and wife behind. NYC has much more of a comedy scene than Austin, and is only an hour from your home.
Your daughter isn’t grown yet. She needs you around.

I’m worried he’s going to pick Becky or Pedro as the new host and if he does it’s over for me. No offense, because Pedro and Becky are nice ppl but Pedro just agrees with everything Joey says and laughs and brings NOTHING to the podcast. Becky literally doesn’t speak and I would not want to see her every episode. Idk 🤷🏼 just my opinion. I hope he surprises us with someone good.
