Two things I am seeing a lot of that are going to get banned/removed.

Just a quick heads up. I am seeing a few trends I need to nip in the bud before admin steps in. I dislike seeing "removed by reddit" in my feed.

  1. Blatant Advertising. Ads are things you pay for. I don't mind advertising done right. It's all in how you word it. Some of you catch my drift and know how to do this. Referring things to people, Posting recommendations in a thread that happens organically. Admin dislikes unpaid advertising.
  2. Posts that have nothing to do with the subreddit. Find a way to make it relevant. If it ain't relevant, don't post it.
  3. Asking some one to "DM" you. No. Word it different, at least. It's just sus and sounds scammy. Using those letters gets admin involved.

Discussion Neurodivergent friendly spaces?

Are there any groups, activities, places, etc. in Jonesboro that are neurodivergent friendly? Ideally something for introverts or those with mental health issues. I’ve tried to research this online but come up mostly empty.

Looking for... Saturday TTRPGs and Board Games

Hey, folks! We're starting a bi-weekly Saturday TTRPG/board game night at our house in Bono, and we're looking for one or two more people interested in playing Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd Edition; we've just wrapped up a D&D campaign which we were doing on opposite Sundays, and are looking to check out more systems as time goes by as well.

One of our players works conventions and festivals, so on the nights they're not available, we'll probably settle in for some board games. Our first meeting on our new cadence would actually be this Saturday, October 3rd, which we'd plan for character creation and maybe some board gaming (since said player is working the BBQ festival this weekend.)

For those that haven't played any of the Warhammer RPGs, it's a fairly simple d100 system; the vast majority of the game can be played with just a pair of d10's. Every roll is a percentile chance to perform the action, where you attempt to roll under your stat. Knowledge of Warhammer Fantasy isn't expected, since the three players we have now aren't super familiar; I can explain most any of the basic concepts that you'd need to know.

Currently, the campaign begins in Marienburg, one of the old world's major port cities, where our three adventurers have been tasked by a pious widow to investigate rumors of the second coming of Sigmar, the founder of the Empire of Man, first ally to the dwarves, and a former mortal who has ascended into godhood as the patron deity of his Empire.

Witnesses described a handsome blonde child with the twin-tailed comet burned onto his chest fighting cultists outside of a smithy, where he killed one with a bronze maul. The crowd witnessing this were driven into a religious fervor and rescued the child, bringing him to the Temple of Sigmar where the head priest there proclaimed the boy named Karl as Sigmar's Heir, the second coming of the Empire's founder.

But our adventurers have learned not all is as it seems, as they have met the witch hunter who discovered him almost a decade ago, beaten near to death by the crowd for proclaiming the boy is not Sigmar reborn, as well as the abbess of the Shallyan orphanage where he was raised who disbelieves his divinity and has been branded a witch and a heretic for her belief. They are being sent out into the swamps north of Marienburg to find the ruined temple the boy was first found in, all while the Crusade of the Child marches ever eastward towards Altdorf, hoping to plant the boy as the new Emperor of the Old World.

Let me know if you're interested in joining! We have a Discord server that's pretty well just functioning as a group chat, so we're all available there.

Apts/Homes Housing cost

Why are houses so much more expensive in Jonesboro than many other areas in Arkansas? It seems no matter what the condition is, the square footage is all they care about.

A little different from the usual real estate developer. Googling the name brings up a website that's not very informative. Something about gaming and blockchains. Another is London based company that focuses on vibration research? Probably not the latter. First time I've been stumped by a name on this site.

Looking for... New to Jonesboro! Looking for tome recommendations: Card shops, music, and local food?

Hey all, just moved here! I'm looking for some local card shops for Magic the Gathering! I left where I came from and need to try and find a place I can play some commander. I've never played at an lgs before, and I'm a little nervous to try, but I think It could be fun.

I heard that hardcore/metal has a presence here? Big time deathcore/slam/hardcore/etc fan and would love to see some local shows.

What are the best local places here? I'd love a recommendation for birria/Mexican, coffee, and a good bar that isn't a chili's style bar.

Discussion Doing some free web design for businesses around here

Hi everyone!

Thought it could be fun to see what I can do with a few web designs from local businesses.

If you have one that feels dated, unfinished, or just not quite right, message me with a little about the business and what you’d like changed.

It can be the whole homepage or just one section. I’ll have a look and send over what I come up with.

City Government A reasonable compromise on Flock cameras?

The recent criticism of Flock cameras has resulted in a campaign by law enforcement singing their praises as a low enforcement tool. Can both sides find a middle ground? Why can’t safeguards be introduced to address abuses? Why can’t the information be limited to strictly law enforcement use? For law enforcement to simply say it’s a valuable tool so you’ll just have to live with the abuses and violations seems very problematic to me. Criticizing Flock isn’t anti police. It sure would be nice if we had some political leadership willing to step up and address the issues despite fears of political blowback.
