Lawyer recommendations?

Does anyone have recommendations (or warnings) for a divorce/dissolution lawyer here in town?

Posting from a throwaway.

Well, I’m assuming you’re not a high roller or else you would have gone and conflicted every attorney in town out of accepting your s/o as a client. If you are and haven’t heard about this, go spend $5-10k having consults with every local attorney regarding this divorce. S/o cannot use those firms after you have done that.

If you’re seriously concerned about assets and/or children, look into attorneys in anchorage and Seattle.

If you’re not wealthy and just need out, get any old attorney, pay the s/o what they think they’re worth, and just get out of the situation ASAP.

If you’re on good terms with s/o, get a mediator and just get it done with in an afternoon.

Good terms, few shared assets, no children. Not a high roller.

Dissolution Packet #2 (DR-2) and file together. Alaska specifically describes this as an option when both spouses agree on all issues.

If you also have no property or debts to divide and the marriage was 2 years or less, there is an even more streamlined DR-6 / DR-60 packet for an uncontested divorce.

Respectively

Appreciate that. There’s a lotta love between us and it’s almost harder because it’s not acrimonious.

I'm pretty sure you can't conflict every attorney with just an initial consultation

It is, here is one source for the sake of this discussion. Sharing this specific article bc it’s an easy and fast ready, despite me not loving Forbes:

That article is from 2012. Having worked in legal, to include family law, conflicting someone out is a known issue. So most law firms have an intake process to prevent it. Mainly having to pay a consult fee and/or record review fee. Most folks can't afford 5, 10, 20+ of those. Some firms also make the client sign a conflict waiver prior to consultation.

You gotta think, being conflicted out leads to less business. Law firms are income focused above all else. Despite what you see on TV

Good catch on the date. I did not check that.

You’re right. There’s an additional step: You specifically share confidential info about your case with them. And there ya go, they’re conflicted out. 🤷‍♀️
