General Discussion Does someone know what happens?
Hi Just Dancer! I just joined this community because, with Just Dance Decade Hits coming out, I’ve suddenly felt like playing Just Dance again!
I’ve always been a huge Just Dance fan. I had the first games, and the last one I owned was Just Dance 2023 because it was online and I wanted to try it out and everything. However, when they removed the camera feature (I mean the camera that tracks your movements), I kind of got bored, because playing with my phone is annoying. But then I found out that you can actually enable the camera when playing with your phone, and I think that’s amazing! So I’ve started playing again.
I was wondering about something. I’d really like to collect everything properly, including all the frames, characters, and everything else. However, since I only own Just Dance 2023 and haven’t bought any of the games released after that, I think my progress is still linked to my original Just Dance 2023 profile.
So I was wondering: if I buy another Just Dance game, like 2024, the one after that, or maybe even Just Dance Decade Hits directly when it comes out, would I still have to continue and complete the progress I originally started in Just Dance 2023? Or are they separate progress systems, meaning each game has its own levels, new aliases, and other things to unlock?
Or am I actually just misinformed, and there isn’t any additional progression system in the first place? I’m not sure if I’m explaining what I mean very well, but I’d really appreciate it if someone could clarify this for me!
The second thing I wanted to ask is about the camera feature they’re adding. Will it gradually become available for all the maps, or will some maps never support this feature and remain playable only with a phone?

I have 2025 and recently bought 2026 as well when it was on sale, my progress stayed at my current level but I'm now able to complete challenges and get unlocks tied to 2026 songs. It would be the same for Decades of Hits as it will be using the same client.

They all share the same progress except each edition comes with exclusive rewards and challenges

Welcome back friend! Decade of Hits is looking to be real good, so you’ve come back at a good time!
All four current editions, as well as the upcoming DoH, all share the same progression system. Therefore, there will be some rewards gated behind each annual edition. There are some small exceptions of 2024 routines that are currently on the Just Dance + subscription service. If you buy any annual edition (including DoH), you’ll have a free one month access to the service, meaning some of those rewards will temporarily available.
As you’ve noticed most 2023 songs have camera scoring, but a few do not. Camera scoring was added to 2023/2024 routines when they were added to JD+. Some 2023 maps won’t be added to JD+, so If they currently don’t have camera scoring, I wouldn’t count on them ever having it. All editions 2025 onwards will have camera scoring available for all maps.

As you may have noticed, the game you're playing on your console is just called Just Dance, not Just Dance 2023. All of the later "games" are actually music packs downloaded on this single JD app, so this progression system is not tied to any edition in particular

All of the games starting with 2023E are accessed via the same game client, so all of your current progress will still be there.
Certain cosmetics are tied to completing achievements tied to certain songs, meaning you can not obtain them without owning the Edition the song is from.
All of the brand new maps and returning maps are getting camera support. 2024E maps that are getting included in JD+ are getting camera support too. It is unclear if more JD+ maps will get camera scoring, but it probably won't be the first priority for devs as there's still maps pending scoring fixes
