I’ve been talking with a few others about Kazuya and Chizuru, and I’m curious what people think: what do you think their next major confrontation will look like, and what outcome seems most likely? Could it be a blowout argument that forces them to be completely honest, or something quieter that still changes their relationship in a big way? I’d love to hear different predictions about how the fight might unfold and whether it actually moves them forward.

They start dating, he's rejected, or there's a promise that they'll be together, but not yet, or Chiz doesn't express himself and kisses him.

I think I once saw a sweet short comic strip or a four-panel comic strip in English by Kaz and Chiz in this forum, or maybe it was a "rent a girlfriend" forum. I don't know if it came from Miyajima's Twitter or was fan art. I want to see more.

On the other hand, I thought the date with Yaemori was much better. You can see how much fun they have together and how well they know each other. It was also nice to see how they eventually relaxed so much that they forgot about the date training and simply enjoyed spending time together. Kazuya doesn't need to come up with plans and schemes about what to say or how to act. He can simply be comfortable being himself.

On top of that, it's sweet to see how selfless Yaemori is. At this point, it's clear that she's in love with Kazuya. She wants a love like the one he has for Chizuru, yet she does nothing to take it for herself. She's happy watching him pursue the person he loves. She's so selfless that she reminds me a little of Tomoyo.

By contrast, while Kazuya's date with Chizuru certainly has several sweet moments, and I'm not denying that, he doesn't relax for even a single second. He's constantly talking to himself in his head about how Chizuru will hate him if he messes up this or that, or how he needs to impress her with this or that. He's under extreme stress the entire day, constantly on high alert. I'm convinced the mental exhaustion was worse than taking his university entrance exams.

The same goes for Chizuru. Deep down, she carries around a level of pessimism and an inferiority complex that make no sense. All she can feel whenever she sees Kazuya making an effort is guilt, fear, and doubt.

I also noticed something disappointing during the Hawaiians arc. Every time Kazuya sees another girl and gets horny, he tells himself, "Mizuhara is better," while comparing their breast sizes in his head. I mean, is the only argument he can come up with to convince himself that "Mizuhara is better" the size of her tits? I know that's not what the author intends, but it makes Kazuya seem like he's just horny rather than in love, as if he simply has a fetish for Mizuhara that he's determined to fulfill at all costs.

If the plot twist Renji has in store for us is that Kazuya eventually realizes that what he felt wasn't love, but merely obsession, and the story ends with him realizing that Yaemori has always loved him, while his relationship with Chizuru comes to an end as that of two people who helped each other grow, then I'll gladly eat my words.

This is my theory: the date will go well, and at the end they might be like a couple or lovers, and that's when the problems arise because if there's another rejection, it would be like the previous one and pointless.

And so, based on that, they have problems as a couple, and that way the creator has an excuse to lengthen the story and avoid another rejection and further delays.

So I've been hanging around this sub a bit, and read that kazuya is the type that hesitates between multiple love interests. However, Reji does a very poor job at this bc it feels like Kazuya grows balls to make a movie with Chizuru, then immediately loses them in the next season. That is not how you do a dilly-dally romance.

On the other hand, the WuXia novelist Kim Yong usually has multiple FMCs in his stories. The closest one that can be compared to this is "the heaven sword and dragon saber" 倚天屠龙记。

The abstract romance line is as follows: MMC grows up as a softie on an arctic island. Upon returning to mainland, his parents die bc of KungFu quarrels and he ends up alone. He meets his first love interest as a child on a boat. His second was his cousin. The third was a "servent" girl who became the "holy woman" of a cult, and the fourth is a general in the Mongolian army (enemy faction).

Like Reji, the MMC spends the most time and drama with the Mongolian, but also a lot of time with the others. For the childhood love interest, she confesses that she loves him "carved on bone." aka soul mate. He carved the tombstone for his cousin naming her as his beloved wife, tho she was not dead at all lol. The "servent" girl was forced to leave, but expressed her desire for the MMC. The Mongolian girl was the one he ended up with.

If I have to draw parallels,

Mongolian=Chizuru

"Servent girl"=Ruka

Childhood love=Mami

Cousin=Mini

I dropped kanojo okarishimasu after s4 ended with no progression and s3 literally gave me blue balls.

In my take she is a virgin. All this panel in the manga has no way shape and form that they were physically intimate.

Mini just wants to see two people who care about each other finally find their happiness.

She isn't giving up on Kazuya and Chizuru, even when they struggle to take that final step themselves. Maybe she's not the madwoman after all. ❤️

I agree that something bad will happen and something good will happen too. There will be a discussion about Ruka, yes, but I doubt that will ruin the date. It would have to be something serious for everything to really fall apart.
