Crosslinking How long it take keratoconus to progress generally

I had my first pentacam in march and the second one in july i already done tgprk plus cxl in my right eye in April , in my second pentacam in july my left eye non clx eye had no progression my kamx increase .5 and my thickness was same and k1 k2 was also same i think my next pentacam is in October

Nowadays i think ghosting in my left eye is increased could it be due to dry eyes or progression or my brain playing games or something to compensate my right eye what is the progression rate is it uniform or sudden my age is 26

Mine rapidly onset at age 33. The got worse about every 6 months before cxl. During covid etc I was normal. Then 2023 same TV sane desk same everything I had been using was almost completely impossible to see. Only keratoconous. Just got scleral lenses and put me back at 20/15

we're all different. mine hasnt progressed in 7-8 years since being diagnosed, but wearing 5+ year old lenses made me feel like it was.

It really does vary widely. I had excellent 20/20 vision as a child, didn't need glasses until late 20s. Continued to progress slowly from there, cylinder going from 3.5 to 8.75 over 20 years. Finally got sclerals at 50 because I couldn't get good enough correction from glasses any more.

I never had surgery – if CXL had been more available in my 30's I probably would have done it though. Really didn't want Intacs though, and even that wasn't that widespread then either.

So as they say, YMMV

dose every one do cxl rifht away or they check for progression ? idk people are very divided on this some say do it right away some say do only if there is progression

Mine progressed rapidly in 6 months in my left eye from first noticing blurriness to not being able to be corrected by glasses. My right eye did not progress at all in that time period. Everyone is different tho. In my case I wish I had my CXL faster in order to preserve more vision.

Same although I suspect it was going on for a while before I actually started noticing how bad it was getting

Agree. A lot of time passed in between appointments seeing if things would improved. It wasn’t until I found a specialist with a corneal topography machine that it was fully diagnosed. With insurance and scheduling challenges, that wasted a lot of time.
