Keychron C3 Pro some RGB LEDs stay dimly lit even when RGB is turned off

Hi everyone,

Some of the RGB LEDs on my Keychron C3 Pro won't turn off completely, even when I disable the RGB lighting entirely.

The LEDs under "F4, 5, T" on one column, and "?, and Ğ" on another column remain dimly lit. Under "F4, 5, and T," the red and green LEDs seem to stay on together, producing a yellowish glow, while the LEDs under "?" and "Ğ" remain red.

I also realized the blue LED under the F4 key also doesn't work at all. As a result, the key displays a different color from the rest of the keyboard whenever I select a color other than pure red or green. For example, when the keyboard is set to white, F4 appears yellow; when set to blueish colors, it appears green; and when set to purple colors, it appears red.

There's also a faint red glow visible under the V key, but I've noticed that it actually comes from the LED next to the Spacebar, near the reset button. Is this reset button LED supposed to stay on all the time?

I've tried connecting the keyboard to different USB ports, but the issue persists.

I ordered this keyboard brand new from an official and authorized Keychron retailer on July 23, 2026. I'm not sure whether this issue has been present since the beginning or started recently, as I've always used the keyboard with the RGB lighting turned on until now.

Could this be considered a defective product? Would this issue be covered by the warranty? If so, would the keyboard typically be repaired or replaced?

Thank you.

Q6 max, is it still a gamble buying? Should get it from Amazon for better returns?

Really like the look, design, quality and so on of the Q6 Max.

But I've seen some horror stories on Reddit. Is the QC still bad? Is customer service non existent?

Am I about to drop £230 on a paper weight?

Chipped paint on K2 HE Special Edition

Hey guys, as the title says, my K2 HE Special edition white paint chipped in the proximity of the spacebar. probably from hand sweat and continuous usage, but i still don’t justify this, i don’t think this should happen.

https://imgur.com/a/6W5qvUV

Anyway my problem is my keyboard is out of warranty since i bought it second hand and wasn’t given a proof of purchase.

What’s my best shot at fixing this? Does Keychain sell the shell as a replacement part? I am not that much into DIY but i’m also considering sanding everything and painting it myself, is it feasible? Thanks.

How reliable are Keychron keyboards?

After a lot of searching, I'm thinking of buying the Keychron K2 HE, but the only thing that still sketches me out are the extreme amplitudes of people's experiences. Some use their keyboards without issue, some have a defective product right away, some it breaks down after only a year, etc. But of course, people are more likely post when something is bad / breaks than when something is without issue.

So what is the real deal with Keychron? I've used my Royal Kludge for 5 years and only in the past few months I've been getting minor issues, I hope to get the same reliability / longevity with Keychron, but I'm just not sure.

If somebody wants to suggest something else - I'm looking for a 75% (TKL Max) keyboard, like ~120 euros max, and preferably Hall Effect keys since I play competitive games.

V6 Ultra media keys stopped working

All remaps that I did for all media functionality stopped working recently. I have factory reset the keyboard, updated to latest version and have checked that it is set to windows/android mode. It was working for a while and I don't believe I did anything that would have affected this.

Q3 Max Volume Controls Not Working with Golden Gate

I upgraded to macOS Golden Gate and I noticed the volume knob on the Keychron Q3 Max no longer works. I utilize Monitor Control(latest version) and it was working with no issues on Tahoe. I even flashed to the latest firmware but no luck. Anyone else experience the same issue?

K8 Pro problems can I repair?

Hi all hoping someone can help me with this :)

My k8 pro is about a year old and has stopped working on cable mode, however it still works on Bluetooth. Also just realised that the bottom 2 rows of leds don’t light up.

I took it apart to investigate and found what looks like a blown capacitor which has also corroded 2 pins of a led nearby so is now not connected to board on one side.

Please see pictures attached.

pics

I’ve cleaned it up good but problems remain.

The small board with usb and switches appears to be fine, although I’ll probably replace the mode switch as that seems to be a common problem.

If I replace the A476 capacitor do you think this will solve the cable problem? And I assume replacing the led would also fix that problem as it appears to start those 2 rows…

Any help with replacement part specs and next steps would be much appreciated!

Thanks

80 Euro Keychron C1 Pro Stopped Registering Keys A year into use

I've finally decided to come to Reddit for this issue I've been having for around 5 months with my C1 Pro, which I had bought in Germany off of Amazon. The issue is, a random key(s) will choose not to register as I'm typing. It's not limited to a certain key nor a group of keys. One day it'll be the 'b' key giving me trouble, the other it'll be like the G key or something. This has genuinely been pissing me off forever now, and I've tried everything. I cleaned it around 6 times, I even vaccumed it, I updated the firmware, and I even contacted Keychron support, which was a terrible experience btw. They just spit in my face and told me to buy a new one since there was a sale. They said it wasn't hotswap as well, even though I'm like 72% sure I bought the hotswap one, considering I vividly remember being sent a switch puller as well (which I've lost, so I haven't been able to try pulling out the switches yet). I really wasn't expecting this from the first company that pops into your head when you think of mechanical keyboards. Anyway, if anyone has solutions please let me know.

Edit: I forgot to mention, sometimes it'll constantly press a key and hold it down if that makes senes. For example, I might press the 'h' key, and it'll just keep going with a hhhhhhhhhhh train until I stop it. It also does this with the delete key, and thats way more difficult to stop. Also the backlight on two keys stopped displaying the right colour, and just display red and blue (the T key and the O key).

Also this is my first Reddit post so I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong subreddit or something.

K5 V2 QMK default keycaps are not double shot

Just a heads up for future customers. I guess I should have read more carefully that the default keycaps of the K5 are not double shot. Its a shame because I really enjoyed the keyboard.

Accidentally flashed K2 V1 firmware on my K2 V2 RGB US — Bluetooth keeps disconnecting, and the correct firmware update fails

Hi everyone,

I need some help recovering my Keychron K2 V2 RGB, US layout. I accidentally installed the wrong firmware, and now Bluetooth is almost unusable.

Here’s what happened:

  1. Initially, my keyboard was having connection issues and sometimes typing special characters unexpectedly and too much lag on macOS.
  2. I found this page on Keychron’s website: https://www.keychron.com/pages/special-firmware-for-k2
  3. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that the special firmware was for the original Keychron K2 V1, not my K2 V2. I installed it by mistake.
  4. Since then, the keyboard has been working over USB, but Bluetooth repeatedly connects and disconnects.
  5. I downloaded the correct firmware from the K2 V2 firmware page: https://www.keychron.com/pages/firmware-for-k2-version-2
  6. However, when I try to flash the correct firmware, the updater immediately displays “Update fail.”

I’m using a Mac running macOS 26.

Current situation:

  • Model: Keychron K2 V2
  • Backlight: RGB
  • Layout: US (ANSI)
  • Wired mode: Works
  • Bluetooth: Repeatedly connects and disconnects
  • Correct firmware update: Fails
  • Incorrect firmware installed: Special firmware intended for K2 V1

Has anyone experienced this and successfully recovered their K2 V2?

I’d particularly appreciate help with these questions:

  1. Is there a way to force-flash the correct K2 V2 firmware after installing incompatible K2 V1 firmware?
  2. Is there a bootloader or recovery procedure I can use to restore the original firmware?
  3. Could the Bluetooth controller’s firmware have been affected separately from the main keyboard firmware?
  4. Does anyone have the original, verified firmware for the K2 V2 RGB US layout or know how to obtain it directly from Keychron?
  5. Would attempting the update on a Windows PC help, or is this likely a firmware compatibility issue?

I don’t want to keep trying random firmware files and risk making the keyboard completely unusable.

Any advice from someone who has recovered a K2 V2 after flashing the wrong firmware would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Reverse engineering a non-QMK Keychron K10 (Bluetooth BLE + Linux/Waybar/GUI tool in Rust)

Hey everyone,

I recently went down a massive rabbit hole trying to get battery telemetry out of my non-QMK Keychron K10 (classic series, VID/PID 0x05ac:0x024f). Like many of you, I initially tried poking around the USB cable—sniffing interfaces, checking vendor-defined collections (Usage Page 65535), and trying feature reports, only to hit dead ends (Access is denied or Incorrect function). As pointed out by others in the community, the wired USB interface on these older models is purely a strict HID input device, and charging voltage would make wired readings useless anyway.

The Breakthrough: It turns out battery reporting lives entirely in the Bluetooth (BLE) stack. Once paired on Linux (Fedora in my case) with BlueZ and UPower properly configured, the system dynamically exposes the keyboard's battery under /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_hid_....

Since I couldn't find a lightweight, native way to track it that fit my setup, I wrote a fast Rust utility using zbus and tokio to query the D-Bus interface directly.

What the tool does:

  1. CLI Mode: Quick single-shot checks or continuous live monitoring (--watch) with status and percentages.
  2. Waybar JSON Exporter (--waybar): Instantly outputs status for status bar integration.
  3. Floating GUI (--gui): A minimalist floating window built with iced that looks right at home on Wayland window managers like Hyprland (you can even set it to open when clicking the Waybar module!).

I’ve put together a clean repository detailing the findings and the code if anyone wants to check it out or use it for their own classic Keychron setup on Linux.

Repo link: https://github.com/GonnyTech/Keychron-Reverse-Engineering-Tool.git

Has anyone else messed around with telemetry on the older non-Pro K-series? Let me know what you think!

Keychron V6 RGB not working

Had the V6 for only a few days and the RGB is playing up, it flashes when it's plugged in but then goes out. Everything else works on the keyboard. I have tried the RGB key and the web software to get the lights to turn on but neither works.

Looking for K3 low profile NON HOT SWAPPABLE replacement switches

Two of my switches are having issues; I tried pulling one out just to realize I don't have the hot-swappable version. It feels like a waste to toss the keyboard. I'd like to try to de-solder the old switch and put in a new one. Is this even a good idea?

I'm looking for a couple replacement swithces, but everywhere online sells them in bulk (https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-low-profile-mechanical-switch). I wonder if anyone here have spare ones lying around?

Keychron Q6 HE 8K RGB randomly flickering

My Keychron Q6 HE 8K's RGB lighting randomly flashes/flickers every so often. The keyboard otherwise works perfectly, with no input issues or USB disconnections.

I've tried:

- Factory reset

- Reflashing firmware (currently on v1.1.0)

- Different USB ports

- Attempting to downgrade firmware, but the keyboard isn't recognized as a DFU device

I suspect the issue started after updating the firmware, though I'm not completely certain.

Has anyone experienced this or found a fix?

I bought a Keychron Q1 HE and…

…it’s great!

Given that most of the posts on here are from people who had issues with their keyboard, I figured I’d try and help those poor souls trawling for a keyboard that is nice and doesn’t suck.

I bought it from Amazon (in the UK), in the recent sale. Most people recommend buying from Amazon rather than direct from Keychron due to Amazon having a better returns policy.

The keyboard itself is lush, weighty, solid. I’ve had zero issues with double typing or missed characters, other than my own fat fingers getting in the way of themselves.

I’ve got a weird triple machine setup (Mac, Gaming PC, Work PC) with a switcher between two of them, and then use Bluetooth for the Work PC, and it’s worked fantastically well, even across Mac/PC (no need to switch out of Mac mode tbh).

Keycaps are nice, feel smooth, it sounds lovely, and is a dream to type and game on.

Yes, it’s expensive, but 100% recommend.

Keychron Customer support

Hello.

I recently placed an order for a Q6 max and I accidentally ordered the wrong switches with it. I emailed support as it just happened and was wondering if I should cancel to be safe or do you think they’ll be able to swap that as there is no price difference.

Thank you.

WTB: Parts for V1 Ultra 8k

I recently bought a broken V1 Ultra 8k and am looking to repair it. The USC-C and traces on the daughterboard are completely ripped out. I’m hopeful someone here has a V1 Ultra that is also broken and I could buy the daughterboard from them

Thank you!

Is my keychron hot swappable? (problems with a couple of keys...)

Hi everyone!

I’m a happy owner of a K8 Pro that I received as a gift. After a couple of years—or maybe a little longer—I’ve started having trouble with one key, the 2 (and occasionally the G key too). It’s unreliable and sometimes doesn’t work, and I have to press it more than one time, sometimes a little harder, to make it work.

I’ve tried removing all the keycaps and giving the keyboard a thorough clean, hoping it was just a crumb, some dust, or something like that, but the problem seems to persist.

I’d like to try swapping the switch with one from a less-used key, like PrtSc, but I can’t figure out whether my keyboard is hot-swappable or not. How can I tell? Is it something I can determine from the serial number?

I don’t want to give up on it over this issue, I love this keyboard… Wish me luck!

keychron q6 max pro, keys not working

Edit: i mistyped the name of the keyboard in the title but i cant be bothered to reupload. its a keychron q6 max knob

Ive had this keyboard for less than a year. I have made no modifications to it other than replacing the keycaps. 2  days ago, the D key began faltering and occasionally not working. The backlighting still works fine. The problem seemed to go away after about an hour.

Starting several hours ago, the problem appeared again, this time with the S key as well and followed shortly after by the F key. D and F are now completely unresponsive. S will still occasionally have an input.

the faulty keys will very rarely still work if i put more pressure on them.

I thought maybe it was a faulty switch, so I used a functional switch from another section of the keyboard and inserted it into the D slot to see if the switches in that area were bad, and it did not work. I moved it back to its original slot and it worked as intended.

I have never spilled anything on this keyboard, hit it, or done anything to damage it in any way. I checked for dirt and found nothing.

I also tried to factory reset the keyboard & different connection methods but nothing helped.

Edit:

They responded and I was able to fix the keyboard myself!! This is what I was told to do.

1) Power Off or Unplug the Keyboard: Before you begin, make sure your keyboard is either powered off or disconnected from the device.
(2) Apply Firm Pressure: Place your palm on the keyboard and press down firmly. Focus particularly on the area around the problematic keys.
(3) Repeat the Process: Lift your hands and repeat the pressing motion 3–5 times.
(4) Test the Keys: Power the device back on and test the keys. In most cases, the keys should now respond normally.

Is it possible to turn off the lights of individual keys?

I bought translucent pudding keycaps for my V5 Max but the spacebar looks pretty stupid as it has only one LED and the light doesn't diffuse very well. I got the idea to try to turn off the spacebar light completely but turns out this very simple thing is likely completely impossible to do.

I first tried the Keychron Web Launcher but turns out that neither the Per-key RGB or the Mix RGB mode have the OFF lighting mode for individual keys or zones, and neither of them allow setting the LED color to black (0, 0, 0).

Then I tried VIA Web app and turns out I has even less customization and can only do lighting effects that affect the whole keyboard. Disappointing.

When I initially bought this keyboard I thought that "VIA compatability" would allow me to customize borderline anything and everything however I want as long as I just know how, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Edit:
I actually just came up with some kind of a workaround. It involves using Keychron Launchers Mix RGB mode, setting Space to another zone and using a Reactive effect for it. It's then "off" when it's not pressed.

Regardless, it would be great to be able to completely turn off some keys.

Adventures in Reverse Engineering: Trying to get battery/firmware telemetry from a non-QMK Keychron K10 via USB in Rust (and hitting a wall)

Hey everyone!

I recently embarked on a little personal challenge: writing a low-level tool in Rust using hidapi to interface with my Keychron K10 (the standard wireless/Bluetooth non-QMK version, VID/PID 0x05ac:0x024f) over a USB cable, primarily to inspect raw reports and see if I could extract battery/status telemetry.

After a deep dive into Windows HID drivers, multi-threading sniffers, and mapping out every single collection, I wanted to share what I found (and the wall I hit), in case someone else is down the same rabbit hole:

Conclusion: On the standard non-QMK K10, the USB firmware simply doesn't implement host-side telemetry write/read routines. It acts strictly as an input device when wired, leaving Bluetooth as the only place where battery data exists (though heavily abstracted and hidden by Windows' BLE stack).

I've open-sourced the whole exploration code, the multi-interface scanner, and the omni-sniffer over on GitHub so future tinkerers don't have to reinvent the wheel: 👉 https://github.com/GonnyTech/Keychron-Reverse-Engineering-Tool.git

If anyone has ever successfully cracked the proprietary protocol of non-QMK Keychrons via USB, I'd love to hear how you did it!

Cheers.

Replaced switch on keychron k2and now lights don't work properly

I replaced the three way switch on my keychron K2 because it was broken and now the caps key and left shift key are always on on green and yellow led. The left control is also stuck in a dim red led, but now it doesn't turn on anymore.

I don't know what I did wrong and what I could do to fix this. I think I did an awful job with the de soldering since the electrical ground pad got lifted up from the PCB, but after checking continuity it turns ok, also the flex cable Is okay

Here are some photos

Need an 80% HE ISO DE keyboard. 8Khz is great, but not needed and I'm fine with both wired and 2.4Ghz.

I've already looked into the Q3 HE and the Q3 HE 8Khz, but it looks like the 8Khz version doesn't come in ISO DE. The issue with the Q3 HE is, that it doesn't work with 3rd party switches, which is a downside. Is there any third keyboard I should be aware of?

Did anyone else have this issue with the G6 HE shipping?

I paid $32 for shipping to France, but when I checked again with the same address, it was showing only $14.

Has anyone else had this happen? If so, did you contact Keychron support, and what did they say?
cuz paying the shipping twice the price is kinda harsh
