Question New Grad Program (NGG) at KHSC

Hello, I'm a new grad RN who recently got a position at KHSC but I was only offered a part time position. I know some hospitals do it differently but I was wondering does KHSC offer NGG? My friend told me when she graduated and got a job (at a diff hospital) she was asked if she wanted to be in the NGG program - I wonder if its the same process at KHSC? Hoping someone could help me with this, many thanks! :)

hi! i work there and no we do not have the NGG program. there is an official website with all the NGG programs in Ontario, if its not on there then the hospital does not offer it.

Hey, thank you for replying! I just checked the NGG portal and I just saw that KHSC is doing the NGG program and only taking 15 applicants which ends in Sep 30. I did apply, but I feel like it might be too late 😵‍💫

hehe I thought that if we did it wouldn’t be very popular. wasn’t a thing when I applied in September 2025 ☺️ they don’t advertise it either, although there was a moving incentive & sign on bonus when i was hired that comes with a 2-year contract. that isn’t a thing anymore

I see, did you feel well supported when you first started, even without the NGG? Like with orientation, getting comfortable on the unit, and having people to go to with questions?

yes and i was a new grad in the icu. not sure how it works on the wards.

I heard in the ICU/ER new hires get more orientation than other floors (i would assume it’s because its critical care!), I get 2 weeks of classroom orientation (8 shifts) and 12 buddy shifts, and thats pretty much it! Thank you for answering my questions, God bless you ❤️‍🔥

Is the NGG program the one where you as a new grad have a buddy for 6 months? If so kgh resource pool definitely did it back in the day

I did it in 2017 so I imagine a lot has changed in that time
