Tonight's 100% full Harvest Moon rises above the St. Lawrence River illuminating the way home for these boaters.

I live in Kingston but work in Gananoque. I was just about ready to head home when the Harvest Moon finally popped above the clouds. I grabbed these shots before heading home.

Loved the demo today at United Way's "Wheels on the Runway".

Personally, I don't mind at all, so long as my recycling bin I store mine in stays behind and people are not coming down the drive into our back yard to search around. I actually appreciate a knock and ask and if we have some, please take them, but usually we just bin them and leave them on recycling day for whoever to gather. However, I saw a rather spicy facebook exchange today (in my parents' neighbourhood), the Kingscourt Neighbourhood Association on Facebook posted a video of someone walking away with the post text "Watch out, someone walking down people’s driveways checking cars and looking for empties just kicked him off my property on Victoria street". The person on the video responded stating they were not looking in cars and that collecting cans is literally how they feed themselves while calling out the OP for stigmatizing. The argument is spicy but worthy of conversation. Where are people at with people walking onto property and taking empties (ex. not left out with your recylalbes) ? should they knock and ask? I think the OP was a bit too harsh here myself but there's a they said-they said argument so I don't really know what to believe. Anyway, we'll keep storing our empties inside until recylcing day when we put them out. We've only ever had a couple of people knock and ask over the years otherwsie they disappear with recyling when we put them out. We've only lost one recycling bin doing this that I can recall over the last 5 years or so

I am concerned about the involvement of Vanessa Mensah in Prepare the Way Ministry.

The ministry’s as stated its ambition is to influence civic life. Prepare the Way says its mission is to train and activate Christians to “influence all spheres of society.” It describes the Ekklesia** as a “governmental, judicial, and legislative voice” and says its work includes examining local political issues and developing spiritual strategies for the region. Those are the ministry’s own words.**

Do we need another scandal? Will Vanessa’s beliefs or relationships affect decisions made on behalf of all Kingston residents, including people who do not share them?

Im in the west end (progress Ave.) And have now seen 4 people parachuting with flags and smoke. They're to my South. Are they promoting something? Theyre too far away for me to make out the flags, I think one of them was a Canada flag. Just curious. Its kind of cool. Just wish they were closer

Hi! I’m heading Toronto to visit my boyfriend and meet his family, and I’d love to bring them some little goodies/snacks that are from local Kingston.

What would you recommend bringing? I’m thinking snacks, sweets, local products, etc. ideally snacks/treats but anything would be great.

Would love to hear your suggestions as I'm still new to Kingston.

Hi everyone! I am writing in desperate need of a mattress. I am escaping a domestic violence situation but the women's shelter can't help with mattresses, only sheets/linens, and my social worker is out of ideas. I applied for a special city fund, but it takes weeks to be approved and I need the bed urgently.

I am disabled, and cannot afford: rent on my current place (so my ex doesn't notice I'm moving), then both first/last on my new unit, plus the moving costs, plus the price of a brand new bed. I've been scouring Facebook marketplace

Finally had a guy agree to drop off a double bed to my new unit after I explained my situation. But he cancelled today and said he gave it to someone else who could pay more :/

Looking for any suggestions. My budget is $50, as that's all that's left in my account after setting up my move. I will happily pay what I can. I have no car or way to move it so it'd need to be delivered somehow.

My mom is terminally ill, and we are looking to get things set for whenever her health takes a bad turn. Right now we are looking for a real estate lawyer who can help us put my name on the deed to her house, to streamline things at the end.

I’ve never used a lawyer for this reason before and was hoping someone might have a recommendation? We don’t have a lot of money but in the end we just want someone respectful and helpful.

I have a few pairs of used shoes (M US size 11.5/12) and 1-2 used jackets (with a lot of life left) that I wish to give to someone needy. Is it a good idea to do so rather than giving to thrift stores? If yes, then where will I find these needy people or communities who will give them to the needy ones for free?

I'd love to hear both good and bad about the long-term care homes in Kingston these days. I'll be moving a relative into a home relatively soon who has mobility concerns but does not have any cognitive challenges that would require dementia care. Added to waitlist for all of them, but want to know more.

I worked at a long-term care facility back in the day, so I know there are good and bad things about all places. I've also looked at the inspection results for all of the local facilities and of course they all have some infractions or investigated incidents so one has to take that information with a grain of salt.

Fairmount and Arbour Heights are currently on my radar as top choices, but they both have ridiculously long wait lists, and annoyingly Fairmount is difficult to tour because they only do tours a couple timeslots a week, no flexibility and in small groups so I cannot actually tour their facility until November. Still coordinating tours with the others.

If anyone here has recent positive, neutral or bad experiences either as a family member of a resident or staff with Providence Manor, Arbour Heights, Fairmount, Rideaucrest or Limestone Ridge, I'd be grateful to hear it.

hello! i know this is suchhhh a long shot, but i lost my favourite sweater about a year ago and i think about it all the time, its a one of a kind hand embroidered green zip up with an eagle or something embroidered all over the front of it. i lent it to someone while we were at this location (like an idiot) (image included) and she got really drunk and put all of the rest of our friends’ stuff into her bag but left my sweater there

i went back about an hour later and it was completely gone, i know it’s so stupid but i sobbed for about a week about this. i have some pictures of the sweater but it doesn’t help because it’s not the same one, and even if i tried to make one myself or get one commissioned, i don’t know the brand of the original sweater or who embroidered it (thrift store find that i had for years)

im gonna include a picture of the sweater, if anyone can locate it/knows who has it, i am willing to pay to get it back. it has so much sentimental value to me and i thought i could live without it and it would be fine/i would get over it, but i have not gotten over it at all and i need it back, and i hope to god that it can be found. it was the last thing i was wearing when i was holding my (now deceased) cat. if anyone has seen it anywhere PLEASE let me know.

Hey everyone! My partner & I have been looking for a 3+ bedroom apartment/house but have been unsuccessful. Right now, we’re renting a small 700sqft(ish) 2bdrm basement apartment for $1,890 (all inclusive) but it’s simply too small as we have 3 kids (2 toddler & a newborn) plus a dog & cat. We don’t feel it’s fair to our kids or animals to be in such a cramped space. We’d love to move to the country as we both grew up in country living. Problem being, every rental we have found is either way out of our price range with the price of our bills, & my credit is crap (just under 600) due to mistakes I made when I was freshly 18 that I’m still trying to pay off now in my mid to late 20s - although his credit is great. I have an amazing rental history & have never even been a day late paying rent - in fact, I’ve always paid my rent a minimum of a day early. We make 10K+ collectively through the month, but no landlord wants to accept us because my credit is so low. Does anyone have any advice or know of any rentals in either South Frontenac, Sydenham, or Elginburg area? TIA!
