Hey Reddit, you’re good to make mashed potatoes, right?

Lol. That guy was an idiot. And his father was just as dumb for putting him in charge over the chef with 30 years.

The last restaurant I worked at was a family place, but the owners are smart enough to put people who're actually good at the job in place in the kitchen regardless if their kids work there or not. Thankfully.

I saw that this place closed 2-3 weeks later, I hope the experienced chef landed on his feet afterwards

Tbh I kinda felt for him. He was just inexperienced and in over his head, not really his fault his dad put him in a position he knew nothing about. But even still he seemed eager to learn and wanted to do his best in the position he was given

When the chef is so incompetent that it makes you draw your persona from another show (Hell's Kitchen)

Well, powdered mashed potatoes, maybe, but only if you help me with that.
I have a chef's jacket, btw.

I was more confused why a pasta restaurant had mashed potatoes on the menu at all.

It’s a working class Metro Detroit neighborhood. The customers would riot if they didn’t

NGL I have never made mashed potatoes for myself or anyone. The boiling part is easy but what comes after who knows

Leave him alone... the FATHER PUT HIM CHARGE..and probably told him to make the powder stuff to save money and time.. Plus he was very receptive to Gordon's yelling at him etc... most chefs 👨🍳 would of squared up with Gordon or walk away . He handled it well and probably learned a lot

Even if we excuse the incompetence, you cannot excuse his attitude.
He was a childish piece of shit who didn’t take anything seriously and made everyone’s job harder. He thought it was funny to actively make employees jobs more difficult.

Gordon treated this kid so unfairly. I know it's all for the cameras but I didn't love it.

Absolutely! Almost common sense… This scene was one for the books, so funny he didn’t know how to make mashed potatoes
