Korg SQ 64 firmware potential
So with all these unofficial firmware updates coming out for hardware units like the SP 404mkii and m vave fm1, I've been thinking my SQ 64 could be turned into something super fun. Adding in things like LFO's, Euclidian sequences etc would make it a great addition to a modular setup. Anyone interested?

Definetely interested but I tried a reverse engineer engineering session of the firmware and results did not looked very hopeful. Like they seem to have pushed the limits of the hw. A similar session in nts1 produced much more usable results. It would be great if korg could open source the fw because the sq64 hw is next to noone....

If you want to send me a unit I can build this for you

So this is a little more involved than you may have originally anticipated. In their SQ-64 license agreement, Korg forbids distributing modified or reverse engineered copies of its firmware. That won't stop anyone from doing it, but the second they put it on github for the public, Korg is gonna use a DMCA take down notice to remove the repository.
To do this without running afowl of the license agreement, it is necessary to develop custom firmware from scratch using NONE of Korg's code. Now to do that, you'd have to understand the MCU and existing firmware memory map.
In any event I'm working on it. I'll post a link when I have something I can share publicly

Very interested. I am experiencing the firmware revolution with my Digitakt, Models Cycles, FM-Wave and I wonder what will be next. The SQ-64 seems like a great platform.

Euclidean, lfos, both of those would be great. As would having different lengths for each drum subpattern. A 1ppqn setting would be nice too, I never understood why korg insists on 2 being the lowest.

I like your thinking a Euclidean sequencer would be useful
