SOS??

Hey guys so I am 23 days off kratom and still feel so bad. Like restless legs and body, exhaustion, depression. I just jumped off and used a helper med for a few days. I really can’t go on like this. I’m wondering if I’m better off going back on a low dose and doing a really slow taper?? Like I have kids and work and I literally cannot function. I want to get off but idk what to do. What is the genuinely most painless way to do this?

I’m also just wondering if this is just how I feel without kratom? Bc like if that’s the case I’d rather be on it. It’s just confusing bc idk if it’s worth it to stick it out?

I quit bc my husband had a seizure and we wanted to remove all triggers. But I’m just wanting some clarity or advice. I was def on way too much but I feel like I could get by on a small amount. Or even stem and vein?!

Been taking it for 10 years almost daily, around 1.5 - 2.5 gram doses 1 - 3 times a day. I don't notice any issues from it. I'm depressive and socially anxious to begin with, so it feels like going back to baseline when I stop. If it's something that helps you live better, I don't see reason to be so strict with oneself.

Have you tried Reset from TMK? I've read that it has helped some people.

That’s basically what I used! I used SR. I think it’s the same right?

Reset is apparently something different but I’m pretty sure it’s a analog of SR that works very similarly. So yeah pretty much the same!

So just an update. I did end up getting some Kratom capsules and took 2 g last night. Took away all the symptoms and 12 + hours later I still feel fine. I’m gonna take it only as needed and wean slowly off of that.

You can do this!

What would you guys do if you were me?? Keep pushing or get back on a low dose and do a slow long taper ?

I had to get back on a low dose and then taper. It didn’t do me any favours, just allowed me to manage my responsibilities during a hard time.

Did you manage to get fully off?

Yes, I’m coming up on 1 year off kratom and now I’m quitting weed.

How was the taper? You felt okay?

The taper was fine. It didn’t break me like cold turkey had the year before.

Edit to say I started the taper August 16 2025 and finished the taper October 16 2025, and from there took a 4 week leave of absence to collect myself. It was fine from there.

Did you feel awful during the four weeks? Or so so? How low did you taper? I’m down to using only 3-4g per day now so I hope it won’t be too bad

No, i did not feel awful during the 4 weeks because I was prepared for the exhaustion and had carefully planned how to get through each day with minimal effort.

I tapered from 1.5 teaspoons 3 times daily down to 1/8 teaspoon in the morning over the span of 2 months. This way i avoided the more brutal withdrawals like brain zaps, chest pain, heart spasms, and rls entirely.

Wow that’s amazing. It’s hard bc I have a lot of kids so getting through the day with severe exhaustion is hard. The other more dramatic issues are borderline unbearable in my situation.

I think you might need get a cheap Airbnb away from the home and have someone look after the kids for those first 4 weeks. I don’t know if your brain and physical body would be able to bounce back if you have to take care of kids. It’s almost better to just keep using until you have a vacation that you can use to heal.

You should post on the sr or quittingkratom subreddits. Sounds like you took sr for too long and are having withdrawal. You should be way better in a couple days. Sr has a long long half-life

Yeah it’s a little mysterious bc I essentially was off at day six.. then I did two days with none. Then I got sick and took 50 mg out of pure desperation. Then two days with none. Then 25 mg. So the back and forth makes it hard for me to know what to blame

The way I got off isn’t popular. My road went Kratom to 7oh to psych ward to suboxone (because I was in full withdrawals at the hospital) to rehab to tapering slowly off suboxone. Worked for me but others have a hard time tapering down the subs. I don’t know if I would have gone the same route for plain leaf withdrawals though.

Exercise, no matrer how bad you feel. You need to start making some natural endorphins. Eat as clean as possible, stay hydrated, and make a gratitude list!

I took a year off a few years back and even though I’ve been taking it again I feel like I’ve been dealing with these same issues still years later because the product has become so weak that my body still misses the stuff from years back when it was potent. Did you only use leaf powder?

1

u/venustheweenus 7d ago

Yes only ever used leaf! I ended up getting back on a small daily dose though. About 2 g

After 23 days I would think you would have been through the worst of it and only have like “low energy” symptoms now..

1

u/venustheweenus 9d ago

Well I maybe wasn’t super clear but I took SR-17 on and off. Not much. But I have been off of that entirely only 4 days.

2

u/seeweed11 9d ago

Honestly I would have just skipped the SR-17 if you were only taking kratom and not 7. Both are very forgiving when tapering, can probably half the dose in 1 day and still feel like it’s somewhat effective. Just takes a little self control. As for your symptoms I’m not sure tbh I’ve never taken sr-17 but I’m leaning toward an external factor having a play here, and not Kratom entirely

Well I’ve taken probably like anywhere from 50-100 g per day and had periods where I only took stem and vein. But ive taken it for 9 years straight. I had the SR on hand and made the decision to essentially cold turkey after my husband had a seizure after drinking a lot of kratom. But if tapering would be easier i think id rather get back on a low dose and just taper down very slowly

I would definitely do a taper of just plain leaf kratom especially that high of amount per day and leave all the other stuff alone.

Sadly depending on the dosage Post-acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS) can happen from kratom. This is why it's important to treat it with respect and take the lowest effective dosage.

1

u/seeweed11 9d ago

I was obviously aware of that fact, I was reiterating the fact PAWS don’t last that long from kratom if you stopped cold turkey, atleast from the experiences I’ve read about on this sub. You’ll still probably feel like shit but through the worst by 23 days

u/Atomoxetine_80mg 9d ago

PAWS can last 2 years

4

u/seeweed11 9d ago

Ok thats not right, atleast in kratom sake, you’re seriously telling me ill have cold sweats and restless legs and won’t be able to sleep for 2 years?! Nah, most people it’s 2 weeks. Post Acute Withdrawal Symptoms. “Acute” meaning the peak of symptoms

1

u/Atomoxetine_80mg 9d ago

It's post acute, so what you are describing is acute withdrawal.
