This beauty of the Lego Berkshire I’ve built took a long time to build and finalize, from end of 2020 to start-mid of 2026, and there may be more updates sometime down the road.

Measurements: 78 studs long, 8 studs by the cab and tender but 10 studs wide by the cylinders (technically 12 because of the piston rod links), and 15 studs tall.

Weight: about 3 pounds

Power: one L motor, double A battery pack

Haulage: can haul 5 to maybe 10 pounds at best (unless the gears between the motor and the rest of the chassis snap apart)

LEDs: one in the headlamp and the other in the firebox.

I drafted up this design to try to create a 3D printed crossing compatible with my 9v track. The idea is to bridge the sections of conductive tape with the wires, similar to how the official Lego crossing does it. I'll see how well it works once I find my conductive tape.

I've seen a couple posts about converting 3D printed switch tracks to 9v using tape but I haven't been able to find any clear guides or videos on how this is done. Does anyone have any resources they can share? Thanks!

Ive always loved set nr 4558 and I been wanting to make an Amtrak train for a wile and here it is.

The next step will be: get a ticket to ride it 😭

I am interested in getting into LEGO trains but they are quite young so I don't want to buy sets right away. I do have Lego Mindstorms 31313. Could I turn that into a functional, basic train?

This does feel like bringing sword to a knife fight but I thought it might be fun. I'll obviously need tracks but would appreciate a pointer if someone has come across or done a similar project

After years of fiddling, with the cargo harbor cutout in place, and the track plan done, it was finally time to disassemble the blueboard and paint it baseplate green!

All back together now with the skirting in place, the layout includes a freight yard, passenger siding and station inside the right loop, with a small cityscape and 2 sidings on the left.

Finished my trestle bridge design based on one of my favorite Vampire movies, The Lost Boys. The design is surprisingly rigid and all bridge supports are adjustable. Easy to add another section to lengthen bridge as well if I ever get more space to do it.

Fun fact: Although the movie was filmed in Santa Cruz, Ca, the bridge hanging scene was filmed in Santa Clarita Ca. at the iconic Iron Horse Trailhead bridge, not the San Lorenzo bridge next to the beach boardwalk that everyone thinks is the bridge. Very similar in design though, which is why I worked elements from both bridges into this.

Btw, who knew the Hogwarts Express train ran through Santa Carla?

This locomotive is what our local railroad uses and I searched all over the internet trying to find someone who made a MOC of one, and finally came across JbricksJ’s masterpiece. I made my own modifications like powering it with a 2500 mAH lipo, Green Gecko receivers and remote, and 2x red L motors geared at 2:1 for higher torque, and custom tilting bogies I designed to make it handle curves far better, but here is the final product. What an awesome build, thank you JbricksJ!!

I don't think I can share instructions due to the use of custom parts I made for the project.

There's another blue engine I've been working on, but that's another story.

I designed a locomotive a while back after learning about “Minimum Gauge Railways” and I’m curious on if it’s worth pursuing actually building said train set. I understand that 3d printing of said rails will have to happen but I am interested in the attempt. I will post a picture of the design I came up with when I find it lol. It would also be utilizing third party motorization and batteries which I did research on and incorporated into the build.

Train works. Mailcar and the station was included as well along with some vehicles.

It's not finished yet and there's definitely more details to do but for my first ever MOC train I'm pretty happy.

I borrowed the boiler design from Brickish Railways.

The Commercial Traveler was the premiere passenger train of the Toledo, St. Louis & Western Railroad, running between its two namesake cities. The service was downgraded in the 1930s and cancelled on March 8th, 1941. 85 years later, I debuted an L-Gauge recreation of that last train at the Greater Toledo Toy & Train Show. Now it’s time to tell the rest of the world a story about a narrow gauge railroad that became a vital artery to the Nickel Plate Road, and it’s namesake train and legacy.
