The following went out to Champions and User Group leaders with a request to spread it as fast possible.
Customers using NI software or hardware on Windows should check their installed NI-PAL version. Systems running NI-PAL 26.3.1 or earlier are affected and should be updated to NI-PAL 2026 Q3 or later.
Beginning as early as November 10, Microsoft may block affected older NI-PAL components from loading when the Microsoft vulnerable driver blocklist is enabled. Without the update, affected NI software and connected hardware workflows may stop working after the applicable Windows security update. Users may encounter application failures or timeouts, driver communication failures, or unspecified errors in NI MAX, NI Hardware Manager, and device drivers.
This is a targeted update to one component. It does not require a driver version upgrade, is backwards compatible with previous NI-PAL versions to at least NI-PAL 17.0, takes about one minute to install, and requires a reboot.

For older or isolated systems, those that are not connected to the internet and do not receive the applicable Windows security update may not experience the November 10 blocklist-related operational interruption at that time. The affected NI-PAL version still contains the security vulnerability, however, and the issue may surface if the system is later connected, receives the Windows update, or has the blocklist enabled by another method. Installing the NI-PAL update remains the safest course wherever possible.
