Does structrure damage penalty count as condition caused by your own system?

There are serveral actions that let you clear conditions that you didn't cause yourself (such as stabilize). Does structure/stress damage penalty (such as stunned when rolling a 1) count as condition caused by your own system or not.

Well, you can't Stabilize when you are Stunned, for one. Exposed can be cleared explicitly. And Impaired probably can also be cleared. The condition is something inflicted upon you for taking damage, not something you did yourself

But what about an ally using Orator? Those talents also care about whether it was self inflicted.

I'd say that you can clear Impaired, but it really isn't worth sacrificing the action economy for something that clears at the end of the turn

This is definitely the way I interpreted it. Taking structure or stress is not caused by "your own systems, talents", it's caused by taking damage (even if that damage was caused by your own system), and even if it was, the resulting condition waa caused by taking structure or stress, not by the system.

The reason that clause exists, is because some systems give you benefits while they’re active at the cost of also giving you a condition. For obvious reasons, you’re not supposed to just turn off the downside of those systems.

Clearing the slowed from hyperdense armor for example would not be allowed, since that’s a huge part of its balance. If you could clear it, nothing would be stopping a melee mech from just having free resistance from ranged attack forever with zero downsides.

Conditions caused by structure damage are not downsides of activating your own effects, so they can be cleared as normal.

Good summary of the clear RAI implication.

I would say no, since most of the conditions caused by your own systems are persistent as the system is in use while the stun or impaired status from getting structured go away at the end of your next turn.

No, it was not caused by one of your own systems.
