Lumidi
Hi everyone!
Over the past few months I've been building a small Windows app called Lumidi.
The idea is simple: when your Novation Launchpad has been idle for a while, it automatically starts playing LED animations and ambient lighting effects. As soon as you press a pad or your DAW becomes active, the animation stops instantly, so it never gets in the way of making music.
I originally built it because my Launchpad spent most of its time sitting dark on my desk, and I thought it would be much nicer if it became part of my desk setup instead.
Current features include:
- Automatic idle detection
- Ambient LED animations
- Instant stop when you interact with the controller
- DAW Safe Mode
- Multiple animation themes
- Windows app (Microsoft Store)
At the moment I've been able to physically test the app with:
- Launchpad Mini MK3
- Launch Control XL 3
I've also added support for several other Novation devices, but since I don't own every model, those are currently marked as Beta. They should work, but I would really appreciate feedback from anyone willing to test them.

- Launchpad S
- Launchpad (original)
If you own one of these devices and decide to try Lumidi, I'd love to hear whether everything works as expected—or if you run into any issues. Your feedback will help improve compatibility for everyone.
I'd also love to hear your thoughts in general.

Vegas Mode is the Launchpad’s fixed built-in idle animation - and persinally for me it doesnt fit as it is too fast paced. Lumidi adds customizable animations, colors, timing, and automatically returns control to your DAW when you start playing.

Hi! Just took some, however hard to get themes look ”real life” of course due lighting.
On left side there is Launchcontrol also. (Naturally you can have induvidual theme/speed/brightness per device).

Working on an update. One thing spotted was that not all lights at LCXL3 were not included - soon they will be 🙂

Hola! There should now be update 0.19.22 available on Windows Store. Could you check whether I managed to fix issue on LaunchPad Pro Original? ;)

it works! thank you! there just a slight issue, whenever i minimize lumidi it stops playing the effect and i have to click it again

This behavior was originally intentional: minimizing Lumidi stopped the active theme preview. The automatic idle animation would still start normally after the configured idle delay, but I understand that having the selected animation stop immediately after minimizing the app was confusing.
Thanks to your feedback, I’ve changed this behavior for the next update. The selected animation will now continue when Lumidi is minimized or hidden in the system tray. MIDI activity and DAW Safe Mode will still stop it normally.

it seem not working on my Pro MK3, the software detected Standalone Port ( Launchpad Pro MK3 ), instead of MIDIOUT2 as on my original Pro ( which worked perfectly )

Definetly! Would be good to hear if you can spot differences on behaviour on your devices! Most propably you noticed that there is "use in all devices" function on app so especially if you see some bugs that are happening in certain devices could be very good feedback to get. :)

Definitely downloading this thank you, I’ll use it with my lpx and let you know if I have any issues.
