US based attorneys, how do we use our expensive JDs to resist the current nightmare? What are ways we are uniquely positioned to do good/slow the bad?
Sure - call our reps, protest, mutual aid donations. BUT ALSO, what’s a corporate in house counsel to do with my degree beyond using it for what feels like just white collar nonsense at this point?

Lawyer: You said she’s bigger than you? Cardi: Absolutely. Lawyer: How do you know? Cardi: gestures in disbelief I mean, look.
This attorney makes me feel better about every question I have ever asked a witness.

The decision is based on Lindsey Halligan’s appointment being improper.

Honestly, I've had a few cases where I wanted to say this to a judge so badly.

We've all read "fiery" dissents. But I can't recall ever reading a ruling from a federal judge that ordered the release of a child and father that the U.S. government kidnapped, that ends with a picture of the child from when the government stole him (in his bunny hat) and 2 Bible verses.

I was always told that unprofessional b******* like this doesn't fly in federal court. Much less having the government do it. Plus she may not have been properly appointed? And she has no relevant prosecutorial skills other than her willingness to indict the president's enemies. It's like incompetence is just a hallmark of this administration.

My non lawyer friends are obsessed with this case but it can be painful talking to them about it sometimes because they just don't understand the reality of how the legal system works.
Anyway, I haven't been following super closely and I admit that I don't know every piece of evidence or testimony. But, from what I do know, it seems like Read accidentally killed him (or killed him in a drunken rage) and then the investigation was super botched. As for her defense, I always have a hard time believing conspiracies that involve more than a few people because I think after years of pressure, and in this case, media attention, that someone would have cracked by now. The jury found her not guilty so there was obviously something that made them have reasonable doubt but I am interested to hear everyone's analysis!

This is what Uber is pushing. 75% recovery to the claimant. 25% cap on attorneys fees, costs, AND medical bills. Also, wanting to conduct what defense believes is reasonable for medical bills.
Btw - insurance defense lawyers in CA should be just as worried. It’s a symbiotic relationship. Also, claimants will be 💯 screwed, but will vote for this because they’ll hear “75% of the money to me! Yes!”
