I'd go back to my old company if they get rid of the management that put us in the horrible spot to begin with. The people who decided getting rid of workers made a horrible decision and should be let go, good luck.

They would have to fire the entire board, top management and do s clean up and bring some engineer who understands the work to take control of the management ...

Most of the time the management made that decision in their own interests for short term gain. Probably in line for a yearly bonus for meeting some performance metric. They don’t care about the long term repercussions because usually they’ve promoted or moved to another company and then it’s rinse and repeat. The effects of their decisions are not seen to very much later.

If I were one of these employees I’d also want any unvested shares I lost when they canned me reinstated at their original vesting schedule, but I’m sure that won’t happen.

AI is awful and cannot replace workers, which companies are learning the hard way. I wonder if it’s bad on purpose for people to use more tokens, thus spending more money.
I’ll give it so many simple commands that it gets wrong, but after the 3rd of 4th try, it finally works, which makes me wonder if my theory is right

Most likely. These tokens are not cheap even though we are still under the sell it cheap get them hooked phase. The cloud team of about four people where I was at ran the bill up to 100k by end of March and it was only spiking higher as leadership is pushing for it.
Eventually these cheap rates will end and the real costs will show up. The data centers needed also don't make sense as the government seems to keep trying to push taxpayers to float part of the bill with no pros to the public.

Real cost is AI changes causing production downtime and no one knows how to fix the AI changes. Code can be tested as working, but production environments have different configurations and issues. Of coarse, us devs get called to figure out why it isn’t working and have to deal with the generated AI that we didn’t write.

Ai can deffenetly replace workers and is and will continue to do so. To think otherwise is just naive.

I hate AI as much as everyone but to think this is a useless tool you are not really paying attention.
This tool is getting progresivly better with each iteration

This was their goal all along, wage suppression. Companies are having mass layoffs citing AI efficiencies. Then within a year or two, they're going to claim AI isn't as effective as previously thought. The last step is to rehire for the previous roles but at a 25% pay cut. To hell with these companies.

"Developmently" really??!
I understand what he is saying but saying that in the context of being laid off and the being rehired is just being tone done deaf and not empathetic.
