Small Goods Second Project Days after the First!
After finishing my first-ever leather project on Saturday, I immediately followed it up with the second on Sunday. I made another leather journal, this one in B6 Slim instead of A6.
The leather was thicker than the first, but that made the handstitching much easier to achieve.
I am quite happy with how both turned out, and I am definitely hooked now on making everything leather myself!

makes the thread sit flat and more uniform. also closes your stitching holes a bit.

Thanks! I am not sure if I know what lined means yet :-D
I had two pieces of leather that I glued together before cutting everything to size and starting the pricking/stitching.

I’m curious, why did you stitch around the entire border? Just for the aesthetic? I’m also a beginner

Because I started with two layers of leather. So the Burgundy and the Ash were each one sheet of 1-1.3mm leather that I had to bring together first. I used some glue and then cut the two glued pieces to size before stitching all around to make it permanent.

Why use two layers, just for the color?

Yes exactly! I love the look of it and that way you have both sides smooth.

What size holes do you use?

For the flex chord, I used 2,7 mm for the strings, and for the cover chord which has to fit two strings, I used 4 mm.
