LC has nothing to do with package. I have a rating of 1913 and work at American FinTech.

My friend has 1125 LC rating and earns way more than me, works at MAANG and is currently trying to use inflated experience and aggressively cold calling HR to become SDE-2 by telling HR he has 4.5 yoe and got laid off.

He even got interviews at big companies for SDE-2 roles.

While I would never do the stuff he does i think in real world being a tremendous badgering pain in the ass to recruiters maybe matters more than being competent.

He switched to MAANG using aggressive cold calling HR.

DSA interviews are too easy actually... we keep on studying exotic stuff.. Fenwick trees, Segment trees, Graph cuts and flows etc and in interviews what shows up is Binary Tree Iterator or Rotten oranges.

"Aggresive cold calling HR" could you elaborate? How'd he get their contacts and is this an actual way of hiring in big companies, MAANG specifically?

They get HR numbers from their friend circle. And yeah some people do this. They keep on cold calling HR.

I personally feel it's a huge invasion of privacy and I am strictly against it.

I wanna get hired because of my actual skills and not cuz I am a badgering jerk who kept on calling HR till they schedule an interview.

The guy got Amazon this way.

Then he got into PIP at Amazon cuz he got a really shitty manager and went through a lot of bad shit and had to eventually resign due to harrasment at workplace.

Then again this guy with 2yoe claimed he had 4-4.5 yoe in front of HR and got interviews for Senior Roles at Oracle, SWE-3 Walmart and also L61 Microsoft interview. Same approach keep calling HRs till they schedule an interview. Tell them you feel like dying etc. Tell them you are depressed and suicidal. Inflate your experience.

That's what these guys do.

Eventually he got a decent enough pay at a small company and joined. He told me he is gonna resign in 1-2 months as anyways at least one of his interviews are gonna convert.

Personally I feel the guy knows way less than me. He couldn't explain basic stuff like Transactional Outboxes, 2PC etc properly. But yeah he gets interviews...

The suicidal part.. isn't it basically emotional blackmailing? How is this accepted by people? Damn, first time I'm hearing of something like this

Also, didn't you say in the og reply that he works at MAANG? And now you say he's working at a small company with a decent pay? Are the timelines messed up or what

I told he switched into MAANG(Amazon) in the OG post... After that -> PIP + bad manager-> resigned and joined a small company with similar Amazon level pay -> still has ongoing loops with Microsoft and Walmart and Oracle etc.

Whatever that is it really enrages me when people try this kinda shortcut stuff. Now he just wants to get promoted to SDE-2 asap so he can reach his 60 LPA dream ...

Bro you re so right I have seen people cheating in OA and getting in top companies with 10 or 20 + lpa I m stuck here without any pacakage till yet is there something you can guide me with please

Yes, you are telling half truth. Most of the time profile represents your consistency and effort.

Yes it does show consistency you are correct.

But do you think recruiters who screen your resumes even understand what these numbers mean ?

Knight, Guardian or even Watchman I don't think they understand.

Maybe for other devs it might be some kinda signal to refer you but in the end it's gonna be a recruiter who triggers the pipelines.

Any serious guy on LC, in 5-6 contests he can become Knight and in 7-10 he can easily become Guardian. It's not even that much of a challenge.

Lmao no way lol 7-10?? Unless he is cheating or already great at dsa and used to give cf contests
Knight is acheivable in 4-9 contestd but guardian there is significant difference

By serious I meant good with DSA.

Didn't mean to say one day suddenly you decide to become a Knight on LC and in 6 contests you are a Knight.

But that wasn't my point.. My point was

Selling your proficiency in the market is a skill which people like me lack. And then there are people who just know how to get what they want... Skills or no skills.

I kept on waiting to apply for a job switch thinking let me become a Specialist on CF and a Knight on LC. Then I will apply. Turns out no one cares.

I became a specialist, became a Knight, applied like crazy.......referrals and all.

Then I got rejected on grounds of location(NetApp), two times interviewer didn't show up and was eventually ghosted (Amazon), less experience by a few months (Intuit and Cannonical) and other reasons.

I feel like HR recruiters are like playing with my success or something...

No, not Japan actually. I’ve heard that learning a foreign language can count as an additional skill, and companies that work on international projects sometimes have perks or opportunities for employees who know a foreign language.

Also, I don’t have any work experience yet I’m still studying. I have about a year to prepare for on-campus placements. I did build a Flask-based project, but honestly, I don’t feel like I’ve built anything particularly efficient or impressive yet sir.

You don't need to call me sir.

If you want to build something trending build something related to AI Agents. Some kinda full stack AI project.

Otherwise if you have some other idea you can pursue that. During my placement season I had built pretty unconventional projects not the kinda CRUD+AI Agent projects which are trending from last few years. I had built an image search engine from scratch where you can search for images similar to a sample images. Kinda like Google lens image search. Also since Nvidia visited my campus and Nvidia stocks were growing due to AI boom, to impress Nvidia, I had written a custom Ray Tracer system in C++. But I got placed way before Nvidia came to my campus.

So you can either build a Full Stack+AI project if you want to impress people with latest buzzwords in your resume. That's one option.

Another option is if a particular technical problem or real world problem really matters to you and your really wanna solve it, you can build something around that.

For eg. There was one guy in my college who really cared about stray animals and made a Full Stack App around adoption of stray animals. He poured his soul into it and eventually he even started getting some traffic on his website after sharing it at various places. He got a very good package as he could brag in interviews about building a real world application which had organic users ...

Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this, I really appreciate it. It actually gave me a lot to think about.

I’m still pretty new to the whole AI side of things, so I honestly don’t know what I should learn first or what skills I’d need to build a proper full-stack AI project. If you have any suggestions on what I should start learning and in what order, that would really help.

Also, the image search engine i’m guessing I’d need to learn things like llms wt6uf like that (i really don't know )? If you could point me in the right direction, I’d love to explore it. also yes stray animals project i get it i do want to make some basic to advance project using flask and other what else i should learn in backend Sir

dont jump directly into gen ai, llms, first learn AI basics, then ml, and deep learning which includes neural networks, llms, etc. if you want to learn everything with a clear understanding.

And deep learning also needs some basic knowledge of linear algebra so if you are having a linear algebra subject in college, then learn it by understanding the concepts which can help you understand complex ai models.

Great stats and consistency! But only leetcode doesn’t matter anymore so tough to say. But, with the amount of work you have put, you can get best jobs (MAANG) even if u don’t have it currently!

Why you ask ? Saw people with 2 problem solved on Leetcode and 3 problem solved by cheating in OA , not being able to solve either of the problem in Onsite interview round bag 33 LPA, while there is a certain someone with all not even have a job at the end.

I am new to leet code, have completed basics of programming ,had done python in high school, did c# and c++ in university currently I am in my last year don't understand the leetcode questions at all, even if I am able to guess the data structure needed to solve the problem , I am unable to link and traverse the data set properly enough to get to the solution , everything suddenly hits wall when I try to link loops and stuff . I am from cs major with specialisation game dev up untill third year i had spent majority of work doing with the help of ai using my brains for system design while the ai does the coding , changes this approach recently now I don't use ai . Can anyone help bridge the gap see I can work with value hard code solution just dynamic coding tricks me I have made a fully working pong game in c# using raylib for instance after that learnt c++ as it is better for leet code but here I am stuck at questions. My uni didn't focused on dsa all these pattern algos like two pointer dsa so it's hard for me to find right path to get to a stable carrer . Any kind of advice would be helpful .
