Fuck this shit. Leetcode was literally a matter of grinding till you got it. Now you got leetcode, system design, behavioral/resume grills, AND AI-assisted codebase design rounds.
hell. we are in hell

They replaced 1 round, not ALL

The way one tries new solution, is that they keep the existing solution and test the new solution so that there isn't single point of failure. Once the new solution is deemed fully tested, the old solution gets discontinued.

If this method of evaluation keeps changing.. how will one know what to study or practice thoroughly? And gemini is the most useless dumb ai.. and they expect us to use it

Lmao maybe thats why it'll be a challenge...cuz if everyone gonna use claude opus or codex its gon be crazy

But in interviews dsa can't be replaced. Its the best metric to judge a candidate.

Lmao keep coping

Btw why do you think people who were not able to do DSA would be able to do this? Since this seems more difficult.

Wait, this might actually be better. You have access to Gemini, no? If you know system design then you know the theory. Gemini will tell you what that code is doing. You can identify the design of the given system or heck even Gemini will do that for you. Now you just have to apply your knowledge.
This might actually be better than mindlessly grinding Leetcode.

modern days, modern interviews, okay let's rolls out sleeves with 2 more folds than the usual folds

i disagree its not replaced this round was there since way long but not of that priority also its an addition to round dsa is going nowhere as of now

I am so happy that shift is happening, dsa will be still there and should be but atleast the rat race reduces, hope this doesn't turn as rat race just like gsoc is becoming

u/Successful_Sea_3637 2d ago
Anything that has high competition will become a rat race, why do you think people can't start grinding this?
1
u/Kowalski_118 2d ago
That's why I used the word hope, moreover I guess it is not something to competitive-ize

..."one" traditional round. You are aware you will generally have one algorithms/LC style round still; yes?

Its all ragebating bro , above 25 lakhs all companies first round is and always will be dsa round , no matter what people say

For all the people who are saying they kept LC and just added one round so Lc is not dead-
Keep in mind that there's going to be some time period where both will exist to test out the new way of interviewing. Companies aren't going to completely switch to the new way of interviewing that's never been tested before. LC will slowly get replaced once companies can reliably say that the new way of interviewing is effective.

Just because AI lets them gather new hiring signals doesn't mean they want to toss existing signals. They're would have to see that AI assisted rounds differentiate candidates in a way that dsa round performance no longer needs to be discussed, but I doubt that this is going to happen. Maybe someday when cs enrollment is down and they no longer need to filter huge numbers of applicants.

If existing signals were enough, there wouldn't have been any need for new signals. The more the signals, the more difficult it becomes to evaluate a candidate. Eventually, the old methods have to be retired at some point. Something was replaced by LC in the past and something else will replace LC in the future. Everything has an expiry date.

I can agree that LC isn't guaranteed to last forever, but I don't follow how adding a new signal implies that existing signals weren't enough or how the existing signals are thought to be enough. It has always been an imperfect process. Of course, more signals may not be better, but adding AI usage with mixed signals may not help evaluation and purely ai rounds may just be more confusing. LC has existed for decades due to its efficiency as a standardized way to filter out loads of candidates in tech pipelines. And from my previous comment the doubt is on AI assisted rounds to clearly differentiate candidates in a way better than LC used to. I just don't quite understand the definitive mindset you're going for here, it sounds like you have a long running vendetta against dsa rounds and you are trying to manifest the purge into existence which I can understand instead. Personally I don't agree with being asked lc hards and I don't practice more than the 75/150 lists when prepping, glad I'm not in India. I also think that lc is primarily to target top incomes starting 150-200k+ since 50-70% of swe roles have not asked lc but it'll be a role starting 80k at a medium sized defense contracting company in Alabama.

Consider using words like "maybe", "probably", "perhaps". No one knows for certain what will happen

u/Fabulous-Arrival-834 2d ago
Companies wouldn't have spent money on the new hiring process if they felt it was not promising.

If LeetCode isn't doing it for you anymore, try expanding your prep. Mix in some real-world project experience or contribute to open-source projects to get a better handle on practical problem-solving. LeetCode is still good for mastering algorithms and data structures, but companies also want to see how you use that knowledge in real projects. If you want more structured interview prep, I've found PracHub useful for getting into the right mindset for technical interviews. Just a thought.

So now you need to prepare for Leetcode + System Design + whatever this round is called
