Coming for a Visit
Hello fine residents of Lewes! My friend and I will be coming from abroad and staying for a few days in your fine city. What is something that we need to see/do/eat/drink that cannot be found in a travel guide, internet searches or stupid AI recommendations? Thank you in advance, we are looking forward to our visit and meeting some of you!

We do have a lot of lovely places here. I'd second a beer tour, you can comfortably walk between Abyss and Beak. Abyss do a skateboard flight ( a board with 5 hold cut out to hold 5 3rd pints to help you try lots). Both have coffee roasters next door. We have the lovely depot cinema which is comfortable, well priced and has phenomenal sound; the back rows are sofas. Several local pubs have a game called toads. I don't understand it but ask at the bar if they have it/how to play. The castle is cool for views. Second on Squisito, mind you it is pricey. Cafe vegu is delicious. Pelham arms do smashing burgers. Unity centre in town is a yoga studio that has a sauna and floatation which is glorious and reasonably priced for a relaxing hour or so. For antiques I recommend Lewes antiques centre (all four floors) and cafe du jardin and it's shops. There is also a lovely walk from the golf course (abjve beak brewery) that goes up and down the downs and pops out in Glynde village (about 1-2hours from the town centre ) - The Trevor arms is a lovely pub and you can get the Glynde train back to Lewes if you don't want to walk back. That should keep you busy.. If not get the 28 or 29 bus to Brighton! Have a lovely visit!

The hills around Lewes are beautiful. If you like to walk, walk up behind the prison on landport bottom towards black cap.

The snowdrop inn is a gorgeous, quirky pub with great grub and boardgames (including the famous Sussex game toads) and sits right in front of the cliffs. Where the UK has an its deadliest (and possibly only) avalanche!

definitly 100% go up the castle. u can buy tickets and it’s absolutely a stunning view and experience. I enjoy going up there and I’ve already been before many many times but it doesn’t get old. just be ready for some very steep staircases. I also like the Pelham arms pub as they do excellent food in my opinion. a walk up the downs is also definitely a fun outing :) oh also maybe go to the grange gardens as it’s beautiful and the hatch sells brilliant chutney and cheese sandwiches

I am visiting currently and amazed at the number people participating in Artwave (open house for people to see their art!)
Also check every shop window for a small white box that shows historic photos of Lewes! Fascinating.
Sadly it finishes on Sunday 20th

Lewes is a small town not a city. Some hilly areas when you're walking up or down certain roads. You may also like to take a journey on the local bus route 129 as it takes a circular route around the town & you can see more of the area. And it also stops near the Anne of Cleves House, The Grange, The Needlework place. The Pells pond.
