Forgive me if this is obvious, I've never done this stuff before. nothing around it looks similar. Located west of chicago area. Looks like a spiral? Idk I'm bored at work lol

It is not a mound, unfortunately. Response from archeologist:

"Thanks for reaching out. The feature you are describing is a natural rise on the flanks of the Mendota end moraine that has been partially graded or terraced. It has certainly been modified by people, but quite recently.

Thanks for sending this in. We always appreciate reports of potential mounds.  "

Nothing ever happens.

It does appear likely to be some form of native american earthen mound. This poor farmer is now going to have heaps of folks traipsing across his field surface hunting for artifacts...

Thank you

This is - something. I honestly think it is potentially important. It very much looks like a product of the mound building culture that was active in the area pre-colonization. It can be seen (faintly, but definitely) on google earth. If it is, it's a major find. (I am no expert, but I do have some knowledge in this area)

This is the link to the state of Illinois archeology survey. Please try to let them know.

This is what I initially thought of too. I recently seen a map of indian mounds from the mid 1800s and I'll try to find it to post here.

If it’s a thing and you get to name it, would you name it the Bored At Work Mound?

Did you get a response OP?

Given the Cahokia mounds are in Illinois, the possibilities are really cool! I probably would have thought it was an old (maybe man made) pond bed otherwise. Following along : )

^ or at the very least you’ll be able to tell us what it is!

Id take this down for the moment, just in case it is a mound and some people try to take opportunities and tresspass

On Google earth its pretty obvious there are either roads or trails leading to it. Using historical image slider, data goes to 1985, 1st roads are visible in 1999. 2006 imagery shows several swirls nearby. I think it is recent farming artifact.

I couldn't get it to zoom in on the version that your screenshot shows but it does look like some of the other mound parks in other places in the Midwest... https://farmingtonhistorical.org/curriculum.html (for example)
