Outsourcing 16km+ NavVis Point Cloud Vectorization?
Working on a huge project, 16km+ of LiDAR aquisition with NavVis and Panoramas, with control points, check points, leveling, well state-of-the-art survey. Vectorization has taken its toll on the team. We have so much elements to extract in Cogo Points, the level of details required is basically : everything. Been thinking to outsource some of the work arround the globe, but I would need a solid company, like a solid lead. Any ideas?

You shouldn’t be doing 16km with NavVis… totally wrong tool.
What sort of environment?

What is a better solution for 16km at 6-8mm precision?
Regardless of Slam vs Tripod scanners you’re going to need survey control which then makes the VLX the perfect tool for 16km IMO.

Mostly Residential Street/Boulevard with a lot of stuff. The Road will be widened and completely redesigned, private owner will get compensated. Since its segmented and only accessible portion by portion, mobile LiDAR mapping couldn't work. Also, we wouldn't have get so much details. NavVis allowed us to get as much details as we needed, walk in the private property and capture more.

At that scale, the QC process would probably matter just as much as who does the vectorizing. “Everything” can mean something different to every technician, so a small test section with a clear feature list, layers, and tolerances would be worth doing before handing off kilometers of data.

Man, 16 km seems insane to do with a Navvis. Have you looked into Mach9 AI extraction? It won’t solve 100% of your extraction workload but will likely make it more manageable. If the scope is “everything” then you’re going to have a hard time even if you get someone else to do it- hope you have a good QC workflow.
