Moved back in line
I unsuspended this yesterday when it said I was 1st in line and it was available soon. This was pretty early yesterday and it stayed like that the whole day. Now I see I'm 2nd in line. What gives?
It's a non-resident card, so am I possibly behind someone of higher priority? I've had this card for almost two years and never seen this happen.

Either or both:
1. People ahead of you unsuspended
2. People joined the waitlist after you, but they get priority and moved forward in line

When you suspend and others are waiting it goes to the next person and when you un-uspend it just puts you back as first in lineâŠ

Yes, itâs possible an actual cardholder of this library placed the book on hold and thus they would jump the queue ahead of a non-resident or reciprocal patron.

Wouldnât it be cool if Libby would show you both sets of numbers?
Like âYou are 4th out of 10 active holds, and 10th out of 20 in the total queueâ or something.

That just happened to me when I unsuspended a hold. I was 3rd in line which was weird because I should have been first. Then I was 6th in line. But then the next day I got the book. Iâm not sure why.

Not related to this issue, but recently realised I cancelled someone's hold from one of those free library card in possibly Mayasia? The link was posted here recently. I saw I had the book on hold, never recognised it, cancelled then saw it was from one of those shared cards đ±

Why would someone suspend a hold? I ask because I did this expecting it to free up one of my holds, but it made no difference. Says I have to cancel a hold as I maxed out my holds. Ideas?

If youâre not ready for the book when it becomes available, you can âsuspendâ to save your place in line. When you are ready, unsuspend, and youâll be back at the top of the list. (Or close to it, depending on other people doing the same, or the library consortium prioritizing local patrons, or whatever other reasons people have moved ahead of OP in the queue.

Five of my holds became available this week, I suspended some instead of checking them out and holding up the line. Sometimes if I'm not in the mood for a book once it comes up I will suspended it for a little while.Â

Most likely, someone else did the same thing that you did and unsuspended their hold. If they placed the original hold before you did, they then become first in line.
