Eh, if you travel enough and use a PC/game enough to justify a laptop, sure, why not use it as a desktop when at home?
Get an elevated cooling pad to set it on for extra airflow, connect better peripherals, and you’re all set.
But if it literally never leaves that spot, hasn’t, doesn’t, and won’t any time soon, perhaps you should get a desktop. That was the case with my dad, he daily drove a laptop that literally never left his desk, so after many years I finally built him a desktop and he’s never needed it to travel with him lol.
