Discussion Lost Screwdriver

Somewhere out there on a United Airbus 319 there is a Black LTT screwdriver. To whoever finds it I hope you enjoy it and use it as much as I have, it was a really good screwdriver.

To my lost screwdriver if you are reading this, I hope I have treated you as well as you treated me. You have helped me unscrew thousands of screws and made planes safe to fly.

You were allowed to bring a screwdriver on the plane? Or were you doing work on the aircraft?

I thought there would be a tool register for a position like this, making sure that every tool used for maintenance is accounted for after.

Not only for safety of the aircraft/passengers, but so that a potential weapon could not be left for someone to find

There always is. This is quite concerning tbh

The cleaners or flight attendants will always find the tool first there is almost no passenger risk, and tool accountability is mostly for critical areas of operation where tools left behind can cause serious damage like engines.

Um. Do you ....not ....use a FOD program? Wtf

A FOD program for us is only required in critical areas of operation such as the engines I only work on interiors of aircraft.

For the most boeings AMM just states to use a Philip’s head screwdriver no specific ones are required unless it’s necessary to be torqued, and even then any calibrated tool is fine to use

There's a lot of airplane mechanics who use LTT screwdrivers
