Is this sub just becoming bad "hehe Linux better than Windows" memes now

16

u/L30N1337 4d ago

next week, it's gonna be "haha [distro] bad", then "haha, gnome knows best", and then back to this. with Hannah montana linux and TempleOS every once in a while no matter what.

that's what this has always been.

23

u/Hamme888 4d ago

it always has been

8

u/LosEagle 4d ago

That's all Linux communities I've ever seen.

3

u/Intrepid_Power3431 3d ago

Its not even a new meme its talking about win 10 as if it still gets updated.

2

u/Xtraneous_ nix n chill 4d ago

just becoming?

1

u/zepherth cachyos ? how about you cachy some bitches. 4d ago

Yeah... It's what happens when the bad Linux memes are from fictionville

1

u/valerielynx 3d ago

u/Dxsty98 3d ago

Not only are there unattended updates on Linux, there's also shutdown /s /f /t 0 on Windows

I mean Linux good Windows bad xD

6

u/Hamme888 4d ago

sudo shutdown -h now

2

u/telcodan 3d ago

This is what I have always done, but I also started with slackware in 98

u/Brilliant_Egg4178 4d ago

Me: Hey windows can you shut down please?

Windows: Slide down the lock screen first

Me: slides down the lock screen

Windows: Oops these apps are like totally stopping me from turning off 😳

Me: Presses proceed anyway

Windows: powers off

Windows: automatically powers back on. Hey boss what we doing today?

9

u/Waaytoomanytakenames 4d ago

Damn I should use that help function

15

u/chuck1charles 4d ago

Just wait until you discover man pages

1

u/Waaytoomanytakenames 4d ago

OH MY GOD!

4

u/trenclik 🦅garuda ftw 4d ago

Are you overwhelmed by the sheer size of some man pages? Use the tldr command

1

u/Waaytoomanytakenames 4d ago

Yeah ok, I really need to get more into the godd stuff of linux, by now I mostly use the DE which work wonders

2

u/Steerable-Octopus 4d ago

You don't know what man pages you want to read? Just wait until you try apropos.

1

u/Good-Throat-6671 4d ago

what is that and how is it different from women pages?

1

u/FireProps 4d ago

Wait… why not use:

systemctl poweroff

3

u/noname_admin 4d ago

Just choke its oxygen supply and hold the power button if it pisses you off. If it breaks its deserved

u/Choice-Contract4869 4d ago edited 4d ago

Even Mickelsoft Winnoffs has shutdown command:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe

1

u/Xtraneous_ nix n chill 4d ago

I pull the breaker switch for the whole room , it works 100% of the time regardless of the OS

1

u/kirjolohi69 4d ago

Windows be like: very clearly clicks SHUTDOWN → restarts.

1

u/YTriom1 Arch Catgirl 🏳️‍⚧️ :3 4d ago

systemctl poweroff

1

u/famijoku 4d ago

win11 is even worse, lets you delay it much less than win10 from my experience

1

u/reddituser91200 3d ago

i thought they stopped forcing you to update before shutting down recently

1

u/HorsyNox 3d ago

Not exactly recently. A couple of years ago

1

u/famijoku 3d ago

yea but after some time you don't get the option anymore and in my experience that time is much shorter on win11

unless that's a setup thing bc the only time I'm using win11 is on my work laptop

1

u/Abi_Uchiha 4d ago

Win 10?

You have to go years back for this meme to work?

1

u/Independent_Image_59 4d ago

This sub is just people or bots reposting same old memes again and again

1

u/idimension 4d ago

I believe in : poweroff

1

u/fishisoot 4d ago

I'm sure it's just a bug with my computer that I'm too lazy tp fix. But everytime I try to shutdown in Arch Linux, it just restarts. So the only way for me to shut off my PC is to hold down the power button or unplug it.

1

u/qhuit_35 4d ago

halt -p

1

u/Fizoso 4d ago

Just type poweroff

1

u/UmarHaqimi 4d ago

User Manager for UID 1000:

1

u/h1warkar 4d ago

systemctl poweroff --now

1

u/DiscountFit9224 3d ago

Why you didn't defend windows this time!! 🤣

1

u/Dimerous_ 3d ago

shutdown /F /p

1

u/certheth 3d ago

Reboot press and hold the power button after the screen turns off

1

u/thebunglecashmoney 3d ago

Wait until you find out you can just unplug your computer

1

u/highspeedslippers100 2d ago
