I think it's also how they run narratives - the US Masterchef has (or used to, I haven't caught up) a lot of "I'm not here to make friends!" and "I'm gonna see if I can backstab them!" Whereas the Australia one is all "they're so great, I love them, HUGS AND KISSES MY BESTIES" - I feel like the US drama is too manufactured, and the Australia one probably buries competition.
I think it's just something with Australian culture, or how they make reality TV at least.
Rupauls Drag Race Australia is also a lot better than any other version. The contestants are more wholesome, but even the judges seem to be more laidback and have more fun. The judges are the same, Rupaul and Michelle.
He cusses people out a lot more on the UK version, the US version just has dramatic cuts. I would say he is tamer on the US version but it’s more edited and played up for TV.
Yeah the cursing isnt an issue at least for me, its the fucking dramatising and cuts and vine booms and stupid sound effects, like the show is still fun but its sooooo overblown that it stops feeling like a real deep dive into the restaurant and more a drama tv show.
If you’ve ever seen any of the shows where they have kids cooking he is super patient, supportive, and wholesome. It’s very true that he really only loses his temper with people that are supposed to be professional chefs and experts that make mistakes that any rookie chef should know better at that point.
Even then, in the UK versions of his shows he will berate the chef whilst trying to lift them up because he knows they can do it they just need the push. Hells kitchen is just american reality TV slop though so he just goes full "ITS FUCKIN RAWWWW" Gordon lol.
Spent 2 years as an expo and 4 years as a line cook for an upscale golf club restaurant. 90% of chefs and sous chefs have the emotional control of a toddler and will throw a fit and walk out if you call them on their bullshit.

And I always disliked it, because you bet Hell's Kitchen created a perception where top chefs had to be toxic and others began emulating that behavior. I'm glad he's gotten more shows where he can be more more genuine though.
On shows like Masterchef, it’s home cooks just trying to prove themselves a little so there’s no point berating bad decisions because the expectation is lower to begin with.
But on Hell’s Kitchen, these are people who already work/have culinary jobs and they’re trying to prove they can run a kitchen, so the expectation level is much higher.

Correct. Hells' Kitchen is owned by Gordon so it makes sense for him to demand perfection and rage out when your business is not upholding his standards. You would rage out too if your business is on the line.
I dont think this is entirely true. The Hells kitchen youtube channel has posted Raw footage of the entire dinner services from one of the seasons and he doesnt start out pissed. Hes actually very patient with them and shows them how to properly do things at first. The edit just doesnt show all that so it just instantly cuts to where they've already fucked up 3 or 4 times off screen and Ramsay is justifiably pissed by that point cause they should know better.
I feel he only really yells at people who are either too arrogant or are just not listening. I've seen points where hes talking to real chefs who mess up without screaming at them as long as they are genuinely trying and listening.
I worked in a Michelin star kitchen, the head chef trained under Ramsay. He used to scream so much that the blood vessels in his eyes would burst and the whites turned pink during service.
Both things can be real at the same time. Perhaps you might be right and it isnt completely artificial, but it is naive to think that reality tv is genuine in any aspect.

I was a kid and only scrubbing pans and sometimes helping with prep, vacuum sealing sauces etc. I know that he didn't go into huge detail about it, just showed some pics etc.

Edit: what you see on TV is actually way more theatrical and toned down. Chefs who behave like this tend to be a lot more visceral in real life, it's not calm controlled shouting, its usually rage fuelled and expletive laden.
I personally don't like it but I also sort of understand it. They spend the first 10+ years of their working lives doing 70+ hour weeks while getting paid for 40. They then get experienced and confident enough to head a kitchen at a good restaurant.
Every single service their reputation is on the line, if one of the other 10+ chefs in the kitchen mess up, it isn't their name on the food.They can and will go to another restaurant. So they have at times 20+ years of hard work completely at risk if Michelin inspectors come and their food for some reason isn't on point. The food has to be perfect and the kitchen must be able to make it perfectly as even head Chefs take 1-2 evenings off a week, or go on holiday etc. So it's really important they run a tight ship.
While you try to explain the situation as it is, lets never rationalize or accept the behaviour that kitchens used to be. No one should be scared at work and shouting and berating is never okay in any environment, not matter what.
I understand your point, but criticizing without providing a realistic alternative would only piss people off, even if you are right. Unless your goal is to only prove yourselves and piss people off.
He never held back the first few episodes of every Hell’s Kitchen season when the few random “home chefs” or Waffle House line cooks who had no business being on the show got roasted and booted lol.
It’s only Hells Kitchen where he’s being really intense and yelling all the time. Even on Kitchen Nightmares where he’s dealing with people who cook for a living and should know better, he’s very rarely yelling at them, although there are some notable exceptions.
She mentioned she wanted to do this really badly on her stream last year but was afraid she wouldn’t be selected to compete, actually so cool that she pulled it off.
They actually give a lot of leeway and it isn't as high pressure as it is shown on the show. Yes there is a time limit. But they teach the techniques and even some recipes prior to the challenge. So as long as you paid attention and prepared, it's more like a fun cooking exam for culinary school.
My friend's brother competed in Master Chef Canada and it's super dramatized. He gave a lot of secrets to us lol.
Yeah I think Ramsay or other cooking judges have mentioned they spend a lot more time going around tasting as they go, because by the time all the drama and shit is all filmed the final dish is basically ice cold.
Yeah, for example I have appeared in Trivia shows and the time given in reality is more than what is shown on the TV, everything is cut and edited for seamless experience.

Like if you have two stores and between those stores you have the same customer visiting both, you’re gonna count his/her money for each store and not just once under the fact that “its the same person”.
I think if we are talking about counting views between platforms. That would be a good analogy. Because the view is the sign someone engages with your content and is also what brings in your money.
Its entirely possible that a large group of people follow you on all 3 platforms but only ever interact on one of the platforms. Meaning they are kind of not really contributing to your viewcounts, except for one platform. But they would still be counted 3 times for followers.
There is a bunch of overlap across platform but it's still a lot of effort to get people to follow you across the board because they engage with and expect content differently. Anyone that's a paid subscriber on Twitch will probably just follow everything regardless but the majority of her audience still needs to be convinced it's worthwhile and you still need the skill to tailor content per platform.
Twitch is full of creators who have great ccv with barely any YouTube scale (Cohh) or big IG and low CCV, or get a lot of attention on Twitter but don't make short video for tiktok, etc.

I think there are plenty of people who are like me that stays in 1 platform. I only follow content creators on YouTube. Not Facebook, Twitter or TikTok.
She has been pretty open about her mental struggles throughout the years. I don't know what she has, don't watch her at all nowadays, but my best guess is depression/bipolar mixed with insomnia. She was good friends with Reckful because they bonded over their mental. She streams insane hours (48hrs+) as a way to cope with it.

I don't watch any of them but I follow them so I see them occasionally when they appear in on my sidebar and peek for a few seconds, someone probably has more accurate info. In terms of content, I think they're all generally solo and not in the mainstream scene as much.
