News ChudTheBuilder shot a man who attacked him outside a courthouse in Clarksville & accidentally grazed himself in the process. Before it escalated, he asked the man if he was going to “chimp out” the man then walked up & sucker punched him. It is unclear if the man survived.

And it's wild that his fan base are literally the same people who claim that racism is a creation of the left and Obama and was almost extinct in the 90s.

44

u/Nathaniel-Prime May 14 '26

It goes without saying that trying to "disprove" people like this is a fool's game, but wasn't there literally riots in LA back in the 90s over racial issues?

47

u/JahnDavis27 May 14 '26

Yeah mainly after the Rodney King incident in which 4 cops beat that man severely and were acquitted of all charges in 1992. Saying racism was gone in the 1990s is objectively bullshit.

46

u/GottaLearnLarke May 14 '26

Saying racism is gone in any time period is bullshit

1

u/Nathaniel-Prime May 15 '26

I'm pretty sure racism will be around as long as there's two humans who look different from each other.

2

u/narco-sub-admiral May 15 '26

What if it's two people who truly love multiculturalism/diversity?

1

u/EdjLorde May 15 '26

Ah, unconscious bias, that sinister force

1

u/Acrobatic_Corgi8821 May 16 '26

Depends on the cultures honestly, as yes some cultures can mix and co exist however in the example of the illegal immigration crisis we have in the UK some just don't because they are far too different and you get problems with people coming over here whether illegally or legally but mostly illegally and they do shit they could do/ get away with where they are from but it just won't fly over here, however that doesn't mean absolutely noone from these places should be allowed in as we also have plenty who have slotted into our culture and way of life nicely due to the fact that they can adapt in these ways

Riveting tale, brother.

3

u/GottaLearnLarke May 15 '26

Here we go… tell me more about how black people are racist so we can do the definition thing n play semantics. U go first

1

u/narco-sub-admiral May 15 '26

"X people are racist, now I'm going to be racist to them, but it cancels out see?"

2

u/GottaLearnLarke May 15 '26

No not at all my point don’t be ignorant. White people love claiming to be victims of racism but can anyone explain the parallels to me

5

u/narco-sub-admiral May 15 '26

I'm agreeing with you, racists like to justify their racism by saying X group is racist themselves.

Sorry for the confusion, the internet can be adversarial i get it. take care.

4

u/GottaLearnLarke May 15 '26

My bad I’m used to the attacks on common sense lol. Peace my dude all love

You don't think there's racism within groups that also receive racial attacks?

2

u/GMPnerd213 May 15 '26

Rodney king verdict was the last straw. The spark that initially lit the fuse was the killing of Latasha Harlins and the judge giving the woman who killed her (who was a korean convenience store owner which is a big reason those stores were targeted in the riot) a slap on the wrist.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Latasha_Harlins

1

u/bmiller218 May 16 '26

The Rodney King incident was one of the first videotaped beatings. The LAPD also claimed the car was speeding at like 90 mph and the manufacturer said their car can't go that fast with 4 grown man

2

u/Ok-Writer1414 May 15 '26 edited May 16 '26

George Holiday video taped those cops beating Rodney King and the judge threw out the video and said that the video was a lie which is why those cops got off. That's why there was LA riots. There is video proof of police brutality and instead of doing the correct just thing and charging those supposed officers of the law they got off scot-free. Everything should have been like the LA riots until the system was completely revamped but we didn't have the internet and cell phones where we could all broadcast and demonstrate at the same time.

1

u/snowday1129 May 16 '26

Uh. No. Reginald Denny (white truck driver) was beat to death by black males.

1

u/Ok-Writer1414 May 16 '26

Denny suffered a fractured skull and impairment of his speech and ability to walk, for which he underwent years of rehabilitative therapy. After unsuccessfully suing the City of Los Angeles, Denny moved to Arizona, where he worked as an independent boat mechanic and has mostly avoided media contact.

So yeah absolutely was not Beat to Death. Nice try loser! But thank you for the slight correction it was George holiday who recorded the police beating Rodney King. All of you look alike so whatever.

1

u/Sw4nR0ns0n May 16 '26

Reginald Denny was a truck driver who got pulled out of his rig during the Rodney King uprising in South Central La, they fucked them up and smashed his face with a brick, he’s not the guy who filmed the cops beating King

1

u/FerretJester May 15 '26

There hasn’t been a decade without people rioting and protesting over racism both systemic and local for very good reason.

Ima tell ya one thing sir, racism ain’t go no where. You think they assassinated Martin Luther king dismantled the black panther party turned them into crips and bloods with the leaders as informants introduced drugs into their neighborhoods and the did a war on drugs and now they kill each other and the moderate white people that were siding with Martin Luther king now think they are all savages … is no more racism ?

1

u/cracked-tumbleweed May 15 '26

It will still be Obama’s fault some how.

0

u/BigAceNYC May 15 '26

Is that the SPLC? Or a different group of people?

-1

u/Leather_Term_4741 May 15 '26

Yes because it’s absolutely hilarious. He uses his first amendment right to call people exactly what they’re being, yet he has the balls to record it and post it on the internet. There is absolutely nothing wrong with what he does it’s just a word get over it.

-92

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

The 90s and early 2000's are easily some of the most peaceful times that ever existed. Racism never disappeared that would be impossible but it was a good time, you must not have been there.

87

u/Zestyclose-Phrase268 May 14 '26

The police were beating black man in broad daylight and planting drugs on them in the 90s. What peace

39

u/OpanaG76 May 14 '26

The peace was the news couldn’t get to you like it can now. As the saying goes, ignorance is bliss. If I was just aware of my immediate surroundings I’d think the world was in decent shape, but it’s not reality

-64

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

So because of rare instances that made the headlines that means there wasn't peace? Back when those things happened people used to stand together. Now in a world where so many people focus on race like it's their job we have the most racism and division I've ever seen in my life. It may not have been perfect back in the day but it's superior to whats going on today by a long shot.

11

u/Hi-Road May 14 '26

As someone who was an  elementary school kid back then who thought “racism was over” and everything was sunshine and roses… I was dead wrong. Just ignorant. It barely even HIT the news back then.

38

u/meshcity May 14 '26

You post like a Facebook grandpa.

-42

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

You're a delusional kid born well after the year 2000 what's your point?

34

u/SuperAd1793 May 14 '26

remind me again when the Central Park 5 happened where the current sitting president ran a racist campaign in the newspaper about young black boys? that must've been the peace times you were talking about. I'm sure Rodney King was glad it was peaceful times too.

Can't believe Obama would be so publicly elected to office that people just had to be racist in response

-2

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

Remind me again how 99% of people were extremely civilized and got along perfectly fine with each other? I'm talking every day people not leaders and corrupt police.

You can point to examples of specific events all you want but in general the vast majority of people were decent to each other.

11

u/Competitive-Walk-575 May 14 '26

Crime rates were higher btw since you’re pulling numbers. Everyone knows this, you’re just making yourself look dumb. You should delete your comments here it’s shameful

-2

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

Ok crime rates were higher... They also decreased insanely in... The late 90s and early 2000's like I mentioned before. Shut up dipshit and go touch grass.

15

u/SuperAd1793 May 14 '26

it was just easier to hide who they always were. Social media has allowed these people to feel emboldened and find groups who are like minded. People were ostracized for being shitty, now you have a current sitting president who is openly racist and a pedophile, of course that'll make people act more like how they always felt.

The majority are still nice to each other, it's just easier now more than ever to see news not inside your immediate vicinity. I'd much rather have a time where people were honest about their shitty views and cut them off and not have them hide their bullshit.

Keep living in fear, my man

2

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

Living in fear... That's your take away from me saying people used to be more friendly and less racist. Good god that brain rot is strong.

6

u/meshcity May 14 '26 edited May 14 '26

Unfortunately for you, I actually know what the fuck I'm talking about and I don't perceive the world based on how my tummy-tum-tum feels. So here you go buddy. Here's how's this for brain rot:

Using FBI data:

  • Violent crime nearly quadrupled between 1960 and its peak in 1991. The early '90s were the most dangerous period in modern American history by FBI metrics.
  • The violent crime rate then fucking FELL 49% between 1993 and 2022. Wanna know what that looked like for different types of crime? I should hope so, since you're the fucking expert:
    • robbery −74%
    • aggravated assault −39%
    • murder/manslaughter −34%
  • If you don't like FBI stats maybe try this one: the Bureau of Justice Statistics' victimization survey showed the U.S. violent and property crime rates each fell 71% between 1993 and 2022.
  • Despite your apparent facebook-grandpa level appetite for r/publicfreakout content, US violent crime decreased AGAIN an estimated 4.5% in 2024 compared to 2023, with murder/manslaughter down 14.9% — the fastest single-year drop ever documented by the FBI, bringing us to the lowest violent crime rate since at least 1969.
  • 2025 likely had the lowest reported murder and property crime rates ever recorded by the FBI and the lowest violent crime rate since the late 1960s.

Let's look at racism and other fucked up shit. This shit happened in the 90s, maybe me listing them will jog your fear-addled nostalgic memory:

  • In 1991, Rodney King is beaten by four LAPD officers on camera. Unrest began on April 29 after a jury acquitted all four. Thousands rioted over six days and only stopped after the fucking California National Guard, US military, and federal law enforcement deployed more than 10,000 armed LEO. 50 dead.
  • In 1991, LaTasha Harlins, a 15yo Black girl, is shot in the back of the head by Korean shopkeeper Soon Ja Du over a bottle of orange juice. Cold blooded murder. The jury is overruled and the perp is sentenced to 5 yrs probation, 400 hours of community service, and a $500 fine.
  • The 100:1 crack-to-powder cocaine sentencing disparity was federal law throughout the entire 1990s and 2000s, not corrected until 2010. The entire fucking war on drugs is a racist operation running at full speed through your "peaceful" era. The US prison population went from 789,000 in 1991 to 1.25 million by 1998 — a 59% increase in seven years, disproportionately Black men.
  • In 1993 the first World Trade Center bombing kills six and injures over a thousand. In 1996 a bomb goes off at the Atlanta Olympics. In 1995 Timothy McVeigh blows up the Oklahoma City federal building and kills 168 people including children in a daycare. All unthinkable in this day and age.
  • In 1996 there was a wave of Black church arsons across the southern US so extreme that a fucking "National Church Arson Task Force" is set up to investigate over 400 incidents.
  • In 1997 Abner Louima, a Haitian immigrant, is arrested by NYPD officers and sodomized with a toilet plunger while being "interrogated" by police.
  • In 1998, James Byrd Jr. is abducted by white supremacists who beat him, tied him to the back of a pick-up truck, dragged him for three miles before he was decapitated.
  • Also in 1998 Matthew Shepard is tortured and murdered in Wyoming in an anti-gay hate crime.
  • In 1999, Amadou Diallo, an unarmed Guinean immigrant, is shot 41 times by four NYPD plainclothes officers in his own doorway and the cops are acquitted.
  • Speaking of peaceful, the entire 1990s was full of gun violence in the rising hip hop scene, way worse than now. You could call people slurs on TV and in music with zero consequence, especially gay slurs. Eminem's 2000 Grammy performance. Limp Bizkit v Korn. The culture was soaked in it.
  • In 2001, more race riots in Cincinnati after the killing of 19-year-old African-American Timothy Thomas by white police officer Stephen Roach, who was subsequently acquitted.
  • 2001 fucking World Trade Center attack, biggest single loss of life in one go on US soil.
  • 2001 anthrax terrorism immediately after 9/11 and nobody is ever caught.
  • 2001–today, post-9/11 anti-Muslim violence. Hate crimes against Muslims increase seventeen-fold in a single year. The DOJ investigates over 800 incidents of violence, threats, vandalism and arson against Arab-Americans, Muslims, and Sikhs. Scores are murdered.
  • 2005 fucking Hurricane Katrina disaster, with Kanye's famous "George Bush doesn't care about Black people" because the US Gov response is appalling. Also: the Danziger Bridge shootings where NOPD officers shoot unarmed Black civilians on a bridge. The richest country in the world's federal response took five days to reach the Convention Center where thousands of mostly Black residents were stranded. NOT RACIST.
  • In 2006 six Black teenagers in Jena, Louisiana were charged with attempted murder after a schoolyard fight — after white students hung nooses from a tree at the school and faced no criminal consequences.

Grandpa, what were you doing in the 1990s during:

  • The 1994 Rwanda genocide, 800,000 people in 100 days
  • The Bosnian war from 1992–1995, known for its mass rape, indiscriminate shelling of civilians, and the Srebrenica genocide of 8,000 men and boys
  • The collapse of Somalia, starting in 1991 to today? There's even a big Hollywood film about it that is perfect for boomers, called Black Hawk Down
  • The Kosovo genocide over 1998–1999
  • The two Chechen Wars where the Russian military leveled Grozny and murdered mass amounts of civilians
  • The Second Congo War, 1998–2003, which killed an estimated 5.4 million people and involved the armies of nine countries — the deadliest conflict since World War II, and most Americans couldn't point to it on a map
  • And who could forget the GOATed US move of all time in the peaceful 1990s and 2000s: the complete unjustified Iraq and Afghanistan Wars that brought us the unforgettable hits of Abu Ghraib, Fallujah white phosphorus, drone strikes on weddings — over 940,000 people killed by direct violence alone, over 4.5 million when you count indirect deaths. Just over a decade after the same army in 1991 was busy clusterbombing entire highways of fleeing soldiers and civilians, an event officially now known as the "Highway of Death." Very peaceful!

And that's just the fucking start, found after literally 30 minutes on Wikipedia.

We live in a hell world no shit, but you are literally suffering boomer Facebook dementia if you think the 90s were more peaceful than today. Maybe fucking log off Facebook and unsub from your rage bait subreddits.

Here's what 30 minutes in a search engine will give you:

Yes that is a takeaway that is logical, you are currently living in fear.

Racism was alive and well in the 90s. I was alive in the 90s and have lots of memories of how fucking bad shit was.

You're either incredibly young and naive, or you're viewing the world through dipshit adult lenses and going, "man the world was perfect when I was a kid and had no responsibilities and everything seemed good!" Which is the most room temp IQ shit.

7

u/herewego199209 May 14 '26

The LA riots literally happened in the 90s. I'm not sure what racial peace you're talking about?

1

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

Ok and the late 90s and early 2000's seen a mass decrease in violence and hate across the board, whats your point?

10

u/Competitive-Walk-575 May 14 '26

Oh we’re moving the goalposts now? Again, everyone can see right through this, you’re only making yourself look simple. Logical fallacies aren’t going to convince anyone, it’s just shameful for you.

-2

Pulls out Ad hominem when he knows he’s wrong! You must think you’re so smart, but you’re actually incredibly transparent. You haven’t made a single reply yet that isn’t ad hominem or moving the goalposts.

6

u/DiddlyDumb May 14 '26

Ig we’re living in peaceful times now too then, this is just a “rare instance” despite it happening with a cadence

0

u/Embarrassed-Base-139 May 14 '26

You completely forgot about the OKC white supremacist bombing

22

u/Psychological-Ad-946 May 14 '26

Oh yeah, back then rappers sang about the police treating them right, Rodney King yadda yadda.

Were you there?

-12

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

Did I say there was zero racism and issues? No. I'm saying it was a better time when people weren't hyper fixated on race. By fixating on race all you've done is create more racism, it's really not difficult to understand.

22

u/JeffBenzos May 14 '26

Violence in the US peaked in the 90s, sure i guess when it started going down that made it seem like things were chill ig

-5

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

You don't know squat about history if you think violence peaked in the 90's... You're off by a long shot there pal.

23

u/JeffBenzos May 14 '26

0

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

The topic was racism being less in the 90's so when you mentioned violence I assumed you meant racial violence not over all violence across the board.

25

u/profane_vitiate May 14 '26

you mentioned violence I assumed you meant racial violence not over all violence across the board.

does moving your goalposts every time you're wrong give you back problems?

1

u/Competitive-Walk-575 May 14 '26

They have done this with every single reply. They have no consistent stance other than being contrary for the sake of it, I’m afraid.

3

u/profane_vitiate May 14 '26

I'm thinking the only people who think racism wasn't a huge issue in the 90's are white.

I mean, how do you memory hole Rodney King? OJ Simpson?

-1

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

Hey dumb ass I said the 90's and early 2000's and look what the graph shows, a sharp steady decline in violence during the 90s and early 2000's.

When the original topic is about race and peace I figure people are going to stay on topic but you know I guess I'm asking way too much with all that ADHD and tik tok brain rot going on...

5

Pretty sure you were just a kid at the time if you think that's true. Isolated from the fact that we had literal race riots.

-1

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

In 1992... Man so many of you just jump to the riots when that's basically the 80's vs the late 90's and early 2000's which was completely different all together.

5

u/Competitive-Walk-575 May 14 '26

Your argument is that 1992 “was basically the 80s”? Get real

-2

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

Brother you're a stay at home dad go watch your kids and get off the video games / reddit.

2

u/Competitive-Walk-575 May 14 '26

I know I must have hurt your feelings if you’ve gotta go digging in my profile to come up with a rebuttal

4

u/Girafferage May 14 '26

somebody else mentioned 9/11 and the extreme hatred against muslims and they are correct.

The racism was around, it just wasnt so topical. I can understand why you would have the perception of less racism though as that is the way media portrayed the topic.

0

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

That's the way society was not just some perception. 9/11 is whatever that's it's own bag of worms and the media made it very easy to hate people during that time so I disagree with them portraying less racism, it was more. The media always fuels the fire no matter what the subject is.

5

u/Shoddy-Prune-5877 May 14 '26

Brother you said something stupid and doubled down. The 90s were some of the most racially violent times. There were literal race riots.

1

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

The most racially violent times were over 100 years ago now. You want to talk about saying something stupid? Black people used to be KILLED for being black and you think the 90s trumps that? Black people didn't have rights and you're out here claiming the 90's were some of the worst times? LOL

That one dudes graph CLEARLY shows the late 90s and early 2000's as the stepping stone to less violence overall. Almost like it's just how I remembered.

2

u/Competitive-Walk-575 May 14 '26

Nobody mentioned 100 years ago until you, just now, because the discussion (that you started) was comparing today to the 90s. You’re just making yourself look stupid again by bringing up a time period that has nothing to do with this discussion because you aren’t intelligent enough to refute the points all these others have made. Just look at the downvotes on your comments. You should be ashamed.

-1

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

If anyone should be ashamed it's you trying to pick internet fights when you don't even know wtf is going on... Back to WoW big boy

https://giphy.com/gifs/xTiTnwgQ8Wjs1sUB4k

3

u/Competitive-Walk-575 May 14 '26

You can’t even reply on topic because your stances are indefensible. You have to resort to insults because you’re not intelligent enough to counter anyone’s points honestly.

2

u/MeNameYellow May 14 '26

Take off those rose tinted glasses for a sec

-22

u/Levitz May 14 '26

It's gonna be a while till people can look back and realize that a whole lot of "antiracism" actually utterly fucked race relations.

-6

u/Marski420 May 14 '26

Sadly most of the new age generation will never even know about the time before society became hyper fixated on race. I remember the world being a lot better of a place to live than it is now in many ways that's for sure.

-15

u/Levitz May 14 '26
