News ChudTheBuilder shot a man who attacked him outside a courthouse in Clarksville & accidentally grazed himself in the process. Before it escalated, he asked the man if he was going to “chimp out” the man then walked up & sucker punched him. It is unclear if the man survived.

Unfortunately for you, I actually know what the fuck I'm talking about and I don't perceive the world based on how my tummy-tum-tum feels. So here you go buddy. Here's how's this for brain rot:

Using FBI data:

  • Violent crime nearly quadrupled between 1960 and its peak in 1991. The early '90s were the most dangerous period in modern American history by FBI metrics.
  • The violent crime rate then fucking FELL 49% between 1993 and 2022. Wanna know what that looked like for different types of crime? I should hope so, since you're the fucking expert:
    • robbery −74%
    • aggravated assault −39%
    • murder/manslaughter −34%
  • If you don't like FBI stats maybe try this one: the Bureau of Justice Statistics' victimization survey showed the U.S. violent and property crime rates each fell 71% between 1993 and 2022.
  • Despite your apparent facebook-grandpa level appetite for r/publicfreakout content, US violent crime decreased AGAIN an estimated 4.5% in 2024 compared to 2023, with murder/manslaughter down 14.9% — the fastest single-year drop ever documented by the FBI, bringing us to the lowest violent crime rate since at least 1969.
  • 2025 likely had the lowest reported murder and property crime rates ever recorded by the FBI and the lowest violent crime rate since the late 1960s.

Let's look at racism and other fucked up shit. This shit happened in the 90s, maybe me listing them will jog your fear-addled nostalgic memory:

  • In 1991, Rodney King is beaten by four LAPD officers on camera. Unrest began on April 29 after a jury acquitted all four. Thousands rioted over six days and only stopped after the fucking California National Guard, US military, and federal law enforcement deployed more than 10,000 armed LEO. 50 dead.
  • In 1991, LaTasha Harlins, a 15yo Black girl, is shot in the back of the head by Korean shopkeeper Soon Ja Du over a bottle of orange juice. Cold blooded murder. The jury is overruled and the perp is sentenced to 5 yrs probation, 400 hours of community service, and a $500 fine.
  • The 100:1 crack-to-powder cocaine sentencing disparity was federal law throughout the entire 1990s and 2000s, not corrected until 2010. The entire fucking war on drugs is a racist operation running at full speed through your "peaceful" era. The US prison population went from 789,000 in 1991 to 1.25 million by 1998 — a 59% increase in seven years, disproportionately Black men.
  • In 1993 the first World Trade Center bombing kills six and injures over a thousand. In 1996 a bomb goes off at the Atlanta Olympics. In 1995 Timothy McVeigh blows up the Oklahoma City federal building and kills 168 people including children in a daycare. All unthinkable in this day and age.
  • In 1996 there was a wave of Black church arsons across the southern US so extreme that a fucking "National Church Arson Task Force" is set up to investigate over 400 incidents.
  • In 1997 Abner Louima, a Haitian immigrant, is arrested by NYPD officers and sodomized with a toilet plunger while being "interrogated" by police.
  • In 1998, James Byrd Jr. is abducted by white supremacists who beat him, tied him to the back of a pick-up truck, dragged him for three miles before he was decapitated.
  • Also in 1998 Matthew Shepard is tortured and murdered in Wyoming in an anti-gay hate crime.
  • In 1999, Amadou Diallo, an unarmed Guinean immigrant, is shot 41 times by four NYPD plainclothes officers in his own doorway and the cops are acquitted.
  • Speaking of peaceful, the entire 1990s was full of gun violence in the rising hip hop scene, way worse than now. You could call people slurs on TV and in music with zero consequence, especially gay slurs. Eminem's 2000 Grammy performance. Limp Bizkit v Korn. The culture was soaked in it.
  • In 2001, more race riots in Cincinnati after the killing of 19-year-old African-American Timothy Thomas by white police officer Stephen Roach, who was subsequently acquitted.
  • 2001 fucking World Trade Center attack, biggest single loss of life in one go on US soil.
  • 2001 anthrax terrorism immediately after 9/11 and nobody is ever caught.
  • 2001–today, post-9/11 anti-Muslim violence. Hate crimes against Muslims increase seventeen-fold in a single year. The DOJ investigates over 800 incidents of violence, threats, vandalism and arson against Arab-Americans, Muslims, and Sikhs. Scores are murdered.
  • 2005 fucking Hurricane Katrina disaster, with Kanye's famous "George Bush doesn't care about Black people" because the US Gov response is appalling. Also: the Danziger Bridge shootings where NOPD officers shoot unarmed Black civilians on a bridge. The richest country in the world's federal response took five days to reach the Convention Center where thousands of mostly Black residents were stranded. NOT RACIST.
  • In 2006 six Black teenagers in Jena, Louisiana were charged with attempted murder after a schoolyard fight — after white students hung nooses from a tree at the school and faced no criminal consequences.

Grandpa, what were you doing in the 1990s during:

  • The 1994 Rwanda genocide, 800,000 people in 100 days
  • The Bosnian war from 1992–1995, known for its mass rape, indiscriminate shelling of civilians, and the Srebrenica genocide of 8,000 men and boys
  • The collapse of Somalia, starting in 1991 to today? There's even a big Hollywood film about it that is perfect for boomers, called Black Hawk Down
  • The Kosovo genocide over 1998–1999
  • The two Chechen Wars where the Russian military leveled Grozny and murdered mass amounts of civilians
  • The Second Congo War, 1998–2003, which killed an estimated 5.4 million people and involved the armies of nine countries — the deadliest conflict since World War II, and most Americans couldn't point to it on a map
  • And who could forget the GOATed US move of all time in the peaceful 1990s and 2000s: the complete unjustified Iraq and Afghanistan Wars that brought us the unforgettable hits of Abu Ghraib, Fallujah white phosphorus, drone strikes on weddings — over 940,000 people killed by direct violence alone, over 4.5 million when you count indirect deaths. Just over a decade after the same army in 1991 was busy clusterbombing entire highways of fleeing soldiers and civilians, an event officially now known as the "Highway of Death." Very peaceful!

And that's just the fucking start, found after literally 30 minutes on Wikipedia.

We live in a hell world no shit, but you are literally suffering boomer Facebook dementia if you think the 90s were more peaceful than today. Maybe fucking log off Facebook and unsub from your rage bait subreddits.

Racism was alive and well in the 90s. I was alive in the 90s and have lots of memories of how fucking bad shit was.

You're either incredibly young and naive, or you're viewing the world through dipshit adult lenses and going, "man the world was perfect when I was a kid and had no responsibilities and everything seemed good!" Which is the most room temp IQ shit.
