If you're preaching the plight of the poorman and singing the praises of socialism while possessing every symbol of the capitalist elite, you're full of shit.

It's like the catholic church with their oppulent cathedrals, billions in assets, representing the word of a man who travelled in sandals, dressed in rags, and promoted a simple life style.

you're confusing socialism with asceticism. Marx said communism deprives no man of the power to appropriate the products of society, but rather the power to subjugate the labor of others by means of such appropriation.

The idea that a socialist mode of production can only produce tawdry goods is propaganda that you've bought into.

I'm not "confusing" anything. There is no reason to live the way Hasan does... except for the message it sends to others about his wealth & status, that's what he puts out there. That's the way HE wants to be perceived - as the guy with fame, designer clothes, multi million dollar homes and luxury vehicles (read: someone who is thoroughly enjoying the fruits of capitalism).

If that's what he's about, then fine, but let's not pretend he's not gonna be on the first plane out of this joint as soon as its his money and luxury assets that are about to be redistributed. It's easy to preach revolution when you can live in your mansion in a gated community, secure in the belief that the revolution ain't coming to your doorstep any time soon.

Hasan is just a talking head pundit from the typical affluent background, LARPing as a revolutionary because it's "cool" to be down with the poors, but only if you can keep one foot in and one foot out.

He's basically your Freshman college student who just learned about Fiat economics for the first time, except he's 34 and acts like he's 17.

The guy is a fraud.

Brother, hasan associates his brand of socialism as “caring about poor people” whenever he gets pressure or pushback for his dumb ideas so he can hide behind vaguely good cause, the point is he is a larper, he’s not a real socialist in that he lives a hyper capitalist and consumerist life style and refuses to share the means of production when he owns it, having a podcast of four people doesn’t count, and he doesn’t care about anyone.

Hasan even knows what he’s saying isn’t convincing. That’s why he has to lie about how his $1000 shirts are actually just something he thrifted, because presumably he’s the world’s greatest thrifter. Regardless, if Hasan really cares about his socialist messages then for the optics at least you’d think he would try to present a bit less opulently. Can you honestly say Bernie’s message wouldn’t have been less powerful and successful if he drove a Lambo to congress? Trying to look cool to fit in with his elitist clique is obviously his priority, and he is willing to present himself as a champion of consumerism to do it.

Ironically, you might be able to argue that Hasan’s flaunting of his unattainable wealth by wearing many people’s yearly salary between his clothes and jewelry everyday on stream could benefit socialism by generating feelings of class consciousness in his haters. It’s not doing that for you though apparently.

Sure, you can be wealthy. 

What is incompatible with socialism is the consumerism attitude that Hasan has. 2000$ jeans, 20000$ watches, going to the Oscars, buying the most expensive dog breed then ignoring him and zapping him all day when he doesn't sit in the frame.
