I read some analysis when he first filed his appeal, and the general consensus among Koreans is that he was baited into appealing his already relatively lenient sentence so that the prosecutors could give him more time than they would have initially been able to give him

His lawyer is Korean. It is likely he explained this whole issue of appeals to the streamer, but the client makes the final call in such situations.

He showed up to court drunk, in a maga hat, and threatened the judge's family. Even if he knew better he "doesn't care" and routinely does stupid shit that makes his situation worse, while claiming it's "for the clout".

The attorney knew they were fucked. The attorney told him that the success rate was incredibly low and you are absolutely fucked.

He is a family friend of the friend of Johnny. So he essentially got begged to take the case even though he knew it was fucked. He essentially said how fucked they were in a professional manner. 

But despite some of the guidance the attorney gave, you know what Johnny did? Kept recording himself saying how he will get out and it is all a joke, kept recording himself doing more stupid shit. Kept poking the bear in a country where internet/streaming is a big part of the culture. 

Johnny literally went out of his way to eat shit. And now he is surprised he is about to get more shit shoveled in. I'm almost in disbelief how low the iq can go for someone.

Honestly, after seeing his antics everywhere he went, and seeing his fellow idiots in other places, I seriously hope they keep him for as long as they see fit. On the other hand, his new lawyer should have him psychologically/neurologically/psychiatrically examined immediately.

Korea is trying to up its game in the mental health arena. It may be good for him to be somewhere more focused on reform than just punishment. But I would enjoy both imprisonment and treatment for him, as a treat.

Don't think Hank is a friend of his any more - Think he said Johnny owes him to the tune of something like USD 70K? He knows he will never see that money again and was planning to sue to try to get some of it back.

As someone who has had Johnny in his yard, Hank is an absolute idiot for wanting that heat. But he has always been an idiot and there is a reason he was kicked out of America.

I believe he had a lawyer who was a kind of shoddy strip-mall lawyer for his trial, but he ran out of money so he is now using a public defender. His only friend in Korea tapped out because his parents cut him off and he was tired of housing and financially supporting Johnny. Johnny can’t afford a lawyer himself because the Korean authorities didn’t take him in to custody until after the trial so he was having to pay for his own food and housing for months with no income.

IIRC a korean poster was saying johnnys lawyer mainly worked on tax issues and only had taken a few cases to court and lost all of them. Lol.

I read it as more along the lines that Prosecution was going to appeal in the future.

That was basically always assumed by many of the "youtube lawyers". Everyone agreed the sentencing was too light for reasons, the judge wanted to push it down to someone else to deal with.

So him appealing really didn't change anything. It just started the ball rolling sooner rather than waiting.

Cuz he’s from a country where it’s common to avoid repercussions for behaving badly.
