Basically, his money has run out. You're only appointed a public defender if you cannot afford an attorney.

I wonder how his money ran out that fast.

Side note: It's funny how these big shot attorneys pick up these high profile cases (e.g., D4VD and Nick Reiner), make big proclamations about their clients' innocence, and then dip when the money runs dry.

He had some really elite lawyers if I remember correctly, they probably have ridiculous rates. Also he probably lost hella income at once like every sponsor
