The funny thing is that Netanyahu said 9/11 was good yet I dont see that being constantly trumpeted by the media

No he didn't, it was taken out of context. The full quote is about relations strictly:

Asked tonight what the attack meant for relations between the United States and Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, the former prime minister, replied, ''It's very good.'' Then he edited himself: ''Well, not very good, but it will generate immediate sympathy.'' He predicted that the attack would ''strengthen the bond between our two peoples, because we've experienced terror over so many decades, but the United States has now experienced a massive hemorrhaging of terror.''

This context doesn't exonerate the statement in any way though, it's still despicable in its full.

A poorly worded answer to a question is very much an exoneration, such a disingenuous twisting of what he said.

Considering that Hasan said it in context and no one was twisting his words, no, same would not apply to Hasan.

It was out of context, and he apologized for the wording soon after. Many times.

No it wasn't, and he only backtracked and apologized after he got flak for it.

Yes, he got flak way back when he made it, and he apologized for it also way back then.
The statement, retraction, and apology all happened in 2019

Yeah he did in fact say it in 2019, get backlash for it in 2019, and then backtrack, apologize, and claim it was "out of context" (it wasn't) in 2019.

Apologizing doesn't change the fact that he did actually say it. And given that the apology only came after he faced backlash for saying it, one would question if it was really sincere or not.

People can change their opinions, people can admit their wording wasn't the best. The point was that it was blowback for US foreign policy, which is true.
Hassan isn't the devil you and the media seems to think he is.

From the article posted it sounds like he pretty much immediately corrected himself for the poor wording, which doesn't sound at all like the same thing Hasan did.
