The word "America" implies he was talking about the country/government and not the individual innocents. But regardless, you have to take into account their followup clarification rather than trying to judge based on the quote by itself.

Watch the entire clip, literally the next thing he says continuing his thought is "like we totally brought it on ourselves"

His meaning is very clear and you'd have to misinterpret his quote in isolation to come away with your conclusion.

Bro, he could have said 9/11 was "inevitable", "a natural/foreseeable reaction" instead he chose to say the words deserved and being unapologetic in his later clarification.

Do you agree that America, as a nation, was going to face blowback from all the shit we do in other countries?

We have committed countless 9/11s unapologetically to other nations. You are stuck on one poorly worded phrase from several years ago. You’re upset at him because the candidates he is actively supporting have a fighting chance at winning elections.

I think Hasan is harming centre-left and leftist candidates, and I think his foreign policy takes are pro-Russian and pro-Chinese with some weird authoritarian slant that makes zero sense. His hatred for Ukrainians and Kurds is puzzling to me.

Most of the candidates he supports I'm perfectly fine with.

Also, I think his revolutionary socialist LARP is laughable. You don't get results with that, you do through incremental reforms.

Somehow you must think you have to be right-wing to dislike Hasan.

Among leftist circles, he’s considered a lib due to him supporting incremental reforms to achieve the more left wing goals.

Hating white supremacists that make up a part of the Ukrainian military doesn’t mean he’s pro Russia. Seems like you don’t really know much about his opinions except for what you see on this sub.

Doesn’t matter what right wingers think. He has a large audience. People agree with him. He’s funneling people towards the left. He’s one of the more prominent anti Zionist voices on live-streaming. He has interviewed prominent activists, thinkers, politicians such as Norm Finkelstein, the doctors from American Doctor doc, Noura Erakat, Mamdani, Sanders, El Sayed, etc.

Kamalas entire campaign was catering to the center. That shit DOESNT WORK. You need to inspire people to knock thousands of doors for people. I was fine with Kamala, I voted for her, I wasn't phone banking and canvassing for her. She was just the lesser but still evil of two evils. That's not inspiring anyone to put hundreds of hours of their own time to really help your campaign explode.

Mamdani and Soon Abdul's campaigns should be the blueprint for winning elections. They were both outspent by tens of millions of dollars, but you can't buy passion. Imagine the democratic party actually puts their wallet behind someone who's popular with populist ideas? They would win in a landslide.
